At one point the Altima was a really good car. I bought my wife one in the early 2000s, around 2002 or 2003 if I remember correctly. That car lasted her for years without the first bit of trouble. When we traded it in, it had over 200K on it.

They stopped making the Maxima in 2023.
Pretty much all the large sedans ( Impala , Lacrosse, XTS, K900, Continental, Avalon, etc) died around that time.

I went down a rabbit hole a while back trying to understand why a certain demographic drove so many Altimas when the far superior competitors Accord and Camry were largely ignored, despite very similar base MSRP.
The most popular answer was that Nissan has a much easier credit approval process for financing.
Nissan went hard on the "sub prime" auto loan idea and made absolute bank on selling bundles of shitty loans.
it's kinda hurt them long term

I thought they were still making them, oh well...

One thing Chevy should've kept going, and brought back the 2dr SS...

We will somehow see these Altimas into the 2050’s driving 68 in the left lane, bedazzled license plate covers, eyelashes for the front headlights and various bits of cosmetic damage. I am sure of it

They moved on to the Kia K5

Good, solid cars mechanically and wrt price. It's the idiots who own them.

The military could have saved a bunch of money in the GWOT using those things. They are indestructible.

So now the Sentra will be used in drive-by shootings?

“They” aren’t buying them new anyway…

I remember when they were first introduced. They were very rounded.
My wife's friend had a 1993 that we referred to as the "Silver Slug"

I have a 2016 Nissan Sentra and its a huge piece of shite. I had a 1996 Nissan Altima and I loved it.
RIP Altima...please take Sentras with you.
I had a 1993 Sentra and it was awesome. F-You CVT!

I swear those things leave the factory with bumper damage

There's enough stolen ones out there to keep the Altima market going for years

I’m eating lunch in belzoni and looked out the window and saw an orange f150 dragging a white Altima down hwy 49 with a chain, and the bumper partially fell off and was dragging the road. Black guy in Altima waved his hand out the windows to driver of f150 telling him to keep driving
I’m not even joking. Couldn’t get my phone out fast enough to get a pic for this thread
