Not an exotic car. It will only do 65 mph.

I’m glad hearing everyone enjoying it. I’m in my 40’s and starting to think about it, it still have 2 kids left in house for another few years. I have been worrying that retirement might be too boring and ultimately a letdown.

For the readers: which of the following scenarios is best:

A: retire at 45 with 3M liquid
B: retire at 55 with 7M liquid
C: retire at 60 with 10M liquid

These are not my numbers, just food for thought.

Glad for you. Retirement doesn't fit everyone the same hence the varied responses. You didn't retire so much as you gave yourself options. I wish you well.

I am 60 and could probably afford to retire. But my wife was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and I need the health insurance. Barring some mother lode of cash falling out the sky, I am probably in this until Medicare. But it’s ok. I have a purpose to keep working.

what on earth are you talking about man…this ain’t ‘Nam

I had a purpose…work hard, raise a family, invest smartly, be kind to people, don’t suck. I did all that and I’m done (except for the kind and not sucking part). My purpose now is to frick off, spend money, smoke weed and try and make my little part of the world more beautiful

today I did absolutely nothing and I’m thrilled with the way the day went. Tomorrow I’m gonna go cut some bamboo and make garden tripods. Tuesday I have no idea

life is awesome just being alive

Good luck brotha! I was forced out and hated it at first. After 10 years I’m on the crest of the wave!
same here. I’m about to be 60 but I was let go after having health problems, well that’s what I think anyways Also had a new management that came in and wanted “ their “ people. But it hasn’t been that bad , wish I could have worked a couple more years

It is great. I never knew how much I would like the two cats I"found".

Having something to do is important, can be anything.

I will be 50 in September. I have 5 more years and I’m retiring. That will give me 31 years with the same company. I’ll play around with my side business and travel with my wife.

I cannot wait. The wife and I have 4 more years left and will retire at 59. Have a couple of investment properties that are paid off and generating nice income that will continue. That combined with the wife's and my pension we will make the same amount as when we worked once SS kicks in.

I love how the boomers brag knowing anyone under 40 will never be able to retire

Congrats. I punched out at 55, but I had enough to leave at 53. The last two years when you have enough to leave are the best years

Just curious are you married/have kids?
