Welcome to the club. Retired a couple of years ago at 62. Younger wife still working.
I recommend you take a trip - get out of your house and go somewhere for a while you've never been, for a period of time. Get some perspective for the rest of your life.
Stay busy. I always have projects here on the farm. But my fitness is the number one priority I have. I've always been in shape, but have turned it up a notch.
I'm convinced that if you keep your circulation going via heavy exercise every other day and weight training nearly every day you can ward off most ailments, issues, pain from aging. It's working so far for me and recommend you do the same.

Been retired 1.5 years in my mid 50s. Not because of great investments or high pay, just was in the fire service and did 30 years. I’ve really enjoyed retirement so far

Every night is like a Friday and every day is like a Saturday.
That was a statement made to me after I retired by a retired golf buddy.

No anxiety for the Monday morning wake-up after drinking all weekend.
I am blessed!!
Same. I turned 65 last July and retired at the end of September. Have not gotten bored at all yet, and feel a whole lot less stress.

Hey fellow baby boomer! I know we worked our asses off to a fault and certainly at the expense of never getting back some of that time. l expect you will find great enjoyment in your retirement and feel busier than you even want to be. A great freedom is now upon you. A hardy congratulations to you. Well done!

56 and semi retired (work anywhere from 8-30 hrs a week and average out at 13).
Advice of course is up fitness. We getting old and need to extend our good years. Don’t isolate your self. A good social and friend group is a must. Travel and get out of your comfort zone.
Congrats man

Congrats! Just turned 45 yesterday and not sure I can do another 20 years in corporate America. I’ve got another 10 in me for sure and maybe 15 at most.
52 here. Waiting on my company's next predictable reorg, in about 5 years, and will test the waters on taking whatever package they offer. My biggest fear about leaving, earlier than the fed retirement age, is losing the health insurance or having to pay out the nose to keep it. That might be the one thing that keeps me from hitting the button when it's available.

Enjoy it. I stopped working 6 years ago and it's awesome.
I build furniture and other woodworking projects and I fish. Stay busy with productive hobbies.

Congratulations.
I just turned 59 and have 27 years with the company. I have a company pension and 401K. I plan to go to at least 62 and the remaining 8 months of that year. At that point it will be month to month. I enjoy my job, it's not very physically demanding and I make decent money. My hard stop is the year I turn 65, if I make it that far.

Been there since March last year
Posted on 6/29/26 at 9:13 am to headboard banger
In March, my company cut me back to half time since we were low on billable engineering work. It allows me to keep my benefits (insurance, etc.) but I only get half the pay. I was stressed a bit the first week and then decided that first weekend that I should just enjoy this season in my life. It is making me lean toward retirement more and more although I was trying to work a few more years.

57 and retired now for 3 months. I love it, feels like summer break when I was a kid.
