Put your phones on silent when you’re in the office, especially when in a meeting.
Also, there’s a neat trick for when your phone is ringing and you don’t want to answer it. You can just press one of the physical buttons on the side and it will silence the phone. You don’t need to let it ring until it goes to VM.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Where do you work where the 60+ year olds invited to meetings aren't technically savvy enough to do this?

It truly is amazing how some these boomers cant handle a cell phone by now.
The IPhone is not new technology.

Did you tell the 60+ year older that you work with, or did you just come here to tell us for some reason?
Or does that 60+'er post here?

Who uses a ringtone? Phone is on vibrate 100% of the time.

My office manager has an annoying ringtone at max volume that I have to hear 5-10 times per day.

You also do not need to answer the phone just to tell the other person that you are in a meeting and cannot talk right now, and that you will call them back.

Teams is a joke. We've used Slack forever, not that it's perfect, but Teams...ooof.

I know plenty of 40 year olds that blare their ringtones
Do you really? I don't know a single Millennial who doesn't keep their phone on silent 24/7

There is some weird cultural norm for older people that they MUST answer the phone anytime it rings.

You work with 60+ year olds?
Posted on 8/20/26 at 10:26 am to upgrayedd
You think this applies only to 60 year olds and older?
Posted on 8/20/26 at 10:28 am to upgrayedd
The worst is when they answer it in meetings.
