I see this problem more with people under 40. They think they can’t miss a phone call or text.

Put your phones on silent when you’re in the office, especially when in a meeting.

It must be confined to your workplace because, when I was working, none of the employees had this problem. I can't remember a time when I took my cell phone into a meeting.

I’m middle aged, so somewhere in the middle, but take an observant walk around and tell us what you honestly see. The ratio of incompetent younger people in the world today outweighs incompetent older folks imo. Just look at the dumassery online today in whipper snappers and how it outweighs other age demographics. Just because someone uses an iPhone doesn’t make them smart or self aware. What’s funny is the very ones that jump on people with actual life experience don’t realize they might learn something from someone who has more life experience, but if their phone didn’t say to do it they are clueless. Slaves to technology and blind to the real world that can be seen with your own eyes.

I have worked with a lot of old dudes. Most of them just didn't want to retire. Some did not save a penny and others just worked sales gigs that were on autopilot so they had no reason to hang it up. Then many consultants that just wanted something to do to keep the mind moving.

Worked with a few that were president materal in their 80s. An old mentor of sorts retired in december and was back to work by March, 77 years old.

My entire career got launched because my old company was thinking they'd all retire in the next few years. The 401k match was 10% because they were trying to get these guys out. 10+ years later many of them are still plugging along.

Where do you work where the 60+ year olds invited to meetings aren't technically savvy enough to do this?

Subtle brag from the guy who works at a company where the employees’ 50th birthday doesn’t arrive with a layoff notice.

There is some weird cultural norm for older people that they MUST answer the phone anytime it rings.

You meant younger people, right?
