She's right. What good is a one-time $1,200 check? People are going to spend it on mortgage/rent, utilities and essential items like food and groceries within a month and then they'll be back to square one again.

Additionally, as long as GDP continues to increase and we do not have full employment inflation is not a concern.
Yeah, that's where your argument kind of falls apart.
JPM GDP forcasts cut by 25%
Also, almost every major banks earning were down by 50%.. Inflation is likely on the horizon anyway.

That’s one part of the two parts. As long as we are not at full employment inflation is not a factor. Government can employ and therefore increase GDP keeping inflation in check.

The goal they have is for universal income. They want the economy to be dependent on it so the government can’t shut it off. See exactly what happened with welfare, SS, etc.

There’s no inflation because the debt is denominated in its native currency. Additionally, inflation doesn’t play a factor until full employment levels are reached and GDP isn’t growing.
This kind of ridiculousness is why you've been laughed off the Money Talk board multiple times.
You're looking at inflation solely as a product of supply/demand on goods and services. That's only part of the picture, here's an analogy that might help you see the rest of it...
Let's say you're starving as you walk down a road, you haven't eaten for many days and you don't have any money. You see a sign down the road advertising All-You-Can-Eat burgers for only $1. Then you see a $1 bill on the ground. How important to you is that $1 bill? Pretty damned important, right? It's not just a dollar, it literally represents you continuing to live.
Now let's say you're in that same scenario but you are also pulling a wagon full of $100 bills. How important to you is that $1 bill on the ground now? Is it even worth your time to pick it up?
That's monetary inflation in a nutshell and it's what your boy Yang and the rest of the UBI-pushing neophytes never seem to grasp.

We can't afford a fraction of that.

That would be monumentally expensive.
I agree that stimulus helps, but a stimulus would help a lot more when people have more of an ability to actually spend it. Why not wait until we know when stay at home is going to end?

I don't think inflation will be as bad as others say, strictly from the notion that a lot of world currencies are pegged to the USD.
Therefor there is a huge need for USD and also a need to keep the dollar strong. China for instance, has been trying every way they can for years to increase their amount of USD on hand because they know that the yen doesn't hold the same level of value or confidence as our currency.
But when you print and print and print and just hand out wads of cash to everyone, inflation, even if its just a small amount, is inevitable.

Why? So they can go make less working, than being on unemployment?
How excited are people going to be to return to work when they make more chillin on the couch every day?

What 16 year old makes $130,000 per year?
What 16 year old needs $2,000 per month?
Don't 16 year olds count as "children" and shouldn't their parents get $500 per month instead?
While your point is valid, this age should be the starting point (if it even happens), but it should be tied to an existing SS# with a history of paying into the tax system and unable to be claimed as a dependent. The IRS has these records. I take this position because I for one was emancipated on my 16th birthday and immediately went into the work force and have been supporting myself ever since (40's now). Signed my first apartment lease at 17. Just because you don't know of any does not mean they don't exist and they most likely will need additional resources just like anyone else...unless they are that age and making over 100k.

Not sure why we need to keep giving money to people that have jobs. Take all that stimulus money and pool it into federal unemployment to assist states for those that have lost jobs because of this.
No family filing jointly that's making $230k a year(or even $150K for that matter, imo), if they are both still able to work, needs any additional income right now. If they are laid off or furloughed, like my wife is, then you take all that stimulus money and help with the unemployment piece to keep cash flowing to them.
Do it the smart way. It's not hard to look at cost of living on a state by state basis and adjust what the additional federal funds for unemployment would be.
With this current $600 bump from federal through July 31st, my wife will be getting about $3400/month in unemployment every month. That doesn't fully make up the gap for us for what she was making, but it's more than enough for us to get by if we're essentially just paying mortgage, bills and groceries for the next few months.
I say take all that one time payment stimulus money and pool that into federal unemployment assistance for those that truly need it as well as more injections for small businesses.

Get ready for those $46 Big Macs, baws.
