I was ok with the first one
I'd be pissed about this one
If we're just printing money make everyone eligible
frick funding solidly-middle class bailouts with arbitrary cutoffs.

great grandchildren will still be paying this shite back.
You people who think this debt is real have always fascinated me. We pay it back by printing more money. As long as the USD is the foreign exchange currency of record, then we never have to pay any of it back.

If you make >$260,000 you are wealthy. We aren’t trying to further increase wealth disparity.

It’s as if people never even heard Alan Greenspan years ago say this. You cannot default of debt denominated in its native currency. Additionally, as long as GDP continues to increase and we do not have full employment inflation is not a concern.

a couple grand doesn't further increase wealth disparity
The idea that a couple making 245k has some slew of additional burdens than a couple making 325k or whatever doesn't is stupid

If it were up to me the cutoff would be $100,000

Where in the frick do people think this money comes from?? We can't sustain giving people thousands of dollars a month. This is getting fricking ridiculous.

Yea that’s a no from me dog.
I was fine without the actual trump check tbh.

The thing is we actually can sustain it easily. This black swan event has proven the case for UBI.

An extra 2000 would certainly be nice. I could pay off all remaining debt and have my savings looking wonderful.
But there is absolutely 0 chance this happens. Zero. I seriously doubt what they are proposing is even feasible, beyond fricking up this country for generations to come.
But hell, at this point, Andrew Yang shouldn't have dropped out of the race if everyone is trying to adopt his ideas

Dude, I don't need an extra 2000/month. That seems a little ridiculous.

That won't pass and we can't afford it.
You can’t be serious? We haven’t been able to afford anything since about 1980.

Okay give me your money then. I’ll continue to funnel it into ITOT.

The only thing I'd be comfortable with is waiting to see how the reopening progresses and then considering another similar payment as the first time. We're already giving out like 40k salaries in UE, the bulk of that which isn't actually coming from UE insurance.

So they want to give my family $5,000 a month? This is getting ridiculous.

Here's the difference between the U.S. doing this and other countries doing it: currency doesn't have value in a vacuum. It has value relative to other currency. For instance: when Venezuela prints money, it's Bolivar goes from being worth 10 to $1 to being worth 10.000 to $1. So the buying power of the currency drops.
But if we print more money, $1 is still worth $1....on ONE CONDITION. That condition is that the USD$ remains the currency by which international commodities are traded and priced. As long as oil, beef, corn, chicken, steel, etc are all priced in USD$ then our currency won't devalue no matter how much of it we print.
