I don't have a problem with legalization but are there really that many people in prison for simple possession? I really don't know, I just remember getting busted for a small amount in the 80’s and it was a one hundred dollar fine.

Neither side wants to pull this trigger for some reason. I’m guessing that it’s too valuable in terms of partisan red meat to claim “the other side is supporting hippies.”

No, most likely they don’t want to legalize it because it’s used as a pretext to commit legal armed robbery against citizens.

Not legalizing weed was a massive miscalculation by Trump. It would've gotten him a ton of mileage with minimal effort.

Biden had the same amount of time to get it done. Neither party took advantage to make a change.

A 2nd federal simple possession only arrest absolutely came with a mandatory minimum federal prison sentence it was 10 days I honestly avoided national parks for almost a decade because of this, even in states like Colorado. The first offense was a citation and fine, I want to say $130-150 range 15 years ago.

Hopefully all of it so we can stop wasting billions and many lives over the biggest failure of a policy in the country.

No. The overwhelming number of those in prison for “possession” are repeat offenders or had more severe charges reduced to possession. That’s one of the biggest lies used by fern worms to argue the for decriminalization of weed.

DOJ wasting no time.

Within an hour after the president made the surprise announcement, a DOJ spokesperson released a statement saying the department would abide by the cannabis directive in an expedited fashion.

I guarantee that if it was President Trump in office they would do no such thing; perhaps even launch yet another Bullshite investigation.

They're not going to let people smoke weed indoors either.

Right, just at designated places all the same. Consumption lounges, rooftops etc. Most big dispensaries would like a smoking lounge above. This is what is currently going on in Vegas.

Las Vegas cannabis industry preps for launch of consumption lounges

But this was a good move that probably took 20 minutes of his day. Trump missed an opportunity to do this.

Fantastic move, but to think Biden had anything to do with it is comical. Guy has a hard on for the WoD.

That and Trumps support of civil asset forfeiture was huge whiffs in my book.

The reason for keeping it illegal has nothing to do with busting people and everything to do with the $$$$$$$$$$ industry it props up.

Imagine being able to take whatever you want from any citizen without criminal charges, and then making the defendant prove their innocence to get back whatever you took.

President Biden is pardoning all prior federal offenses of simple possession of marijuana, the White House announced Thursday, although senior officials stressed to reporters that there are currently no people currently in federal prisons solely for simple possession of marijuana.

So in essence he freed no one.

Oh thank goodness. This was really holding us back. Brandon addressing the really important shite first. God job Brandon.

Some of you ignorant fricks can't help but show your true colors. You only support shite based on what party is doing it and that's sad.

I don't care if it was Trump or whatever.. This is something I support, but do you really want to get into the whole "addressing the really important shite first" debate.

On this board, after Trump went on a twitter rant about some bullshite that a president shouldn't have ever been concerned with, I said something along the lines of "I would think a president wouldn't even have the time to concern himself with this" and this board said that I was dumb if I expected a president to not have time to talk about other stuff.

A few weeks ago I mentioned something about how I though that having people locked up for marijuana charges was a waste of tax dollar paid resources and that I didn't understand how people who were committing worse crimes were being put back on the street and Jones told me something along the lines of "stop listening to the liberal media, there are not people locked up for just marijuana" (even though I remember him discussing the Britney Grinner situation and him saying "there are a lot of people here in the US who are locked up for marijuana who should be let out first")

It just amazes me how blatantly hypercritical some of are and there is no reason for yall to post because your opinions are so predictable.

Not to mention the positive financial impacts. Not that those would be long standing, The government would find a way to squander it away.
