Plane takes out paraglider's canopy/wing in mid-air

WATCH: A paraglider gets hit by a Cessna 172 near the Austrian town of Zell am See.
The paraglider was able to pull her rescue parachute and land safely shortly after the incident on Saturday.
According to police, the 44-year-old Austrian had started from Schmittenhöhe in the direction of Piesendorf. Above the Pinzgauer Hütte, she collided at 1:15 p.m. with the Cessna piloted by a 28-year-old.
The pilot of the Cessna, which flew from the Glemm Valley in the direction of Zell am See, was able to land the aircraft safely at Zell am See Airport.

I came to say he had to be shitting himself, the whole way down worried the suspension lines and toggles from his wing would wrap his chute lines. This is standard for paragliders because they have no cut-away mechanism but I think he had enough altitude that he might have preferred to release it. However, all's well that ends well.

Guy I was in meetings with last week in Vienna was heading out to paraglide this weekend. I wonder if he was in the area. He will for sure know about this incident.
