re: Savannah Ga. - StringMusic
Just returned from Charleston & Savannah. Ditto what was said earlier - Charleston has almost no homeless folks. Plenty of history. Did a small group walking tour. Good food scene - ate at Circa 1886 and Peninsula Grill - both very good. Fort Sumter is a good 2 1/2 trip, but the museum is not ope...

re: Do any of you remember Kolb's Restaurant on St Charles? - StringMusic
I remember dining there with my parents in either the late 60's or early 70's. It was very popular for years. My wife's grandfather told me it was one of the first places he would visit on his annual trips into NOLA. Some of those old ceiling fans with the pulleys and belts are either in Dickie B...

re: Notable Residents of Old Metairie - StringMusic
Wendell & his wife lived in Old Metry - maybe on Iona. Went to fund raiser there a long time ago - like mid 90's. When he was still alive. He may have lived in River Ridge before he made all that cash from Pan Am & exploding gas lines in Kenner....

If you don't like Montmartre area, try looking at place in Montparnasse, or just south of Montparnasse. More residential than tourist, more apartments and some buildings converted to hotels. Plenty of cafes and restaurants. Lot's of places along the the Metro #13 line. Also, large train station...

re: For the PGA Championship Tournament to have an identity, the should play at muni’s. - StringMusic
Pine Valley can host but it has no room for spectators or sponsor tents. I would like to see the pros play there but the logistics are almost impossible. Cog Hill is a great option if it’s setup properly. ...

re: France Trip Help - StringMusic
We were in France in late September 2018. Did one day at the Ryder Cup. While in Paris, simply use the metro - clean, reliable, and easy. For anything outside of Paris consider a train to a large city then a car rental. We spent 5 nights in Paris, then rented a van for 4 of us and drove to Norma...

re: Favorite Elton John song? - StringMusic
It’s to difficult to pick a small number but Amorena, Holiday Inn, and Burn Down the Mission are in my list. Did anyone else on this board see his concert in the assembly center in 73 or 74? I recall that he started with maybe 3 songs with piano & vocals only. Then he told the crowd that the nex...

re: A Few Pics from Our Trip to The "Mighty 5" National Parks in Utah - StringMusic
Yes if you want to hike the Narrows, or rent a bike and make the 3.5 mile trek. If you want to hike the West Rim to where Angel's Landing starts, you can take a short walk from the lodge to the trail head. And as stated earlier, Angel's Landing is closed. It gets too crowded due to the nature...

Zion to Bryce - yes, you go thru the tunnel. It takes you due east to Hwy. 89. Both Hwy. 9 and US 89 are in great shape. From Springdale, you'll have to enter the park to get to the tunnel. The tunnel is in Zion NP. Enjoy the trip - both parks are incredible and unique....
