Half the posters in this thread: “It’s even worse than we thought. She was dating a 55-year-old!”

Alright, for those that a much more knowledgeable about this stuff than I am, explain why flying into an intense storm cell causes catastrophic failure here, but hurricane hunters can fly through the eye wall of a cat 5 hurricane and be fine. I'm sure those hurricane hunter planes are better equipped for the conditions, but what is it about those planes that allows them to withstand severe weather?

Noted. I'm not sure if you can make an apples to apples comparison with what a surgeon does, though.

I can tell you when I got a jam playing vibing with the gusty cross wind I’ll land better. But I can only do that with friends flying to the keys in a rented Piper Seminole, vs an airliner with 240 people behind me.

I think his last post confirms he's transitioned to just a troll, if he wasn't one from the beginning.

one is designed to fly through rough weather. The Lear is not.

Female copilot. The pilot sounds like a man. IDK if anyone has posted this but the person working the radio is not the one who is flying the plane.

Yea, I suspected as much, but what is it that makes the planes flown by the hurricane hunters so much better prepared for those types of extreme conditions?

Man hearing the other pilot reciting the Lord’s Prayer in the background is bone chilling. RIP

Hurricanes actually have very steady lateral winds as opposed to this being more up drafts and down drafts in a rapidly building cumulonimbus event. Now the eye wall and all that yes has the up and down drafts but you aren’t flying a T tail bird into it I will also say. I have taken a Lear off in a Cat 1 before. We delayed departure by about 3 hours as the storm came on shore so the winds were right down the pipe of the runway for takeoff. One airborne it was smooth as a baby’s bottom.

This has to be the dumbest justification for her flying at her age that I’ve seen going around social media.

No amount of white-knighting gonna bring these people back.

They fricked up big as Dallas.

Flew too high on Icarus wings.

Hurricane hunters are usually flying at much lower altitudes.

In the event of an emergency, would the pilot be expected to take control of the plane?

Also, I havent listened to the audio, but I've read that someone says "look out the window." Is that true? Any theories on why someone would utter that sentence?

Correct. The one working the radio is also supposed to monitor radar conditions and avoid catastrophic storm cells. It’s kind of an important role.

They use turboprop engines and have reinforced airframes.
