I delivered for years in my teens and 20s. Never outright asked for tips or heard of anyone doing that. I delivered around Sherwood in BR. Needless to say tips weren't so hot on a lot of nights..

As someone who's worked five different "tipped" jobs, that is tacky as frick. I hate tipping and the culture of tipping we have here in America so I could never imagine blatantly asking someone for a tip, ESPECIALLY for more! That is rude as hell! You take whatever the customer feels you deserve, say "thank you! I really appreciate it!" and walk your happy arse back to the car.

Waiter followed us out the door and asked why we didn't leave a tip. I walked back in, picked up the 20 and pocketed it.

"Now I'm not leaving one" and walked out.

I mean if he didn't see the cash, which he obviously didn't, and he provided good service, he may have just been following up to find out what the hell he didn't wrong. Unless he was a dick or chased you all the way to the car, that seems reasonable enough, even if it's a bit out of the norm.

Bet he looked from then on. My son in law who was with me at the time said he'd have fired them for doing that. $20 lesson looks cheap by comparison

Jesus dude. You're a cheap arse

$5 should be your minimum on anything under $20.

I would have been beyond agitated, and only given what you did. When she asked for more, I would have said sure, let me see the receipt and wrote a big fat ZERO, then tweeted at Domino's because if you need something done, tweet at them. They go all in to save face.

Entitled to a tip? frick that. I'd call the manager of the branch and report her.

Hell , I don't even like the trend I've been seeing where restaurants will put the "suggested 18% tip" on the receipt. I usually tip pretty well, but if a place is suggesting what I should tip, I'm probably going to tip less.

I would tell her she shouldn't be asking. Let her know some people will look down on her for asking. Then I give the normal tip.

There is no telling what she might have done for a $5 tip. Dang man, what a missed opportunity.

As a former temporary Domino's pizza guy, they add on a stupid "delivery charge" $1.99 or so added to the order. It pays for "dough." This discentivizes the customer to leave a tip in addition to the delivery charge

I used to live on the fourth floor of an apartment building that required a code to get in. I used to order from, what I think was Domino's or Pizza Hut once a month and always put the door code in the special instructions section online. One time, after waiting for the pizza I get a call and the driver said that he was too busy to walk up the stairs or take the elevator and I needed to come down to the front door for my pizza. It should not have been a big deal, but the kid was kind of hostile about it, so I decided that I would only tip a dollar.

A few weeks later, I go to order online and I cannot have it sent to my apartment, but I could have it sent to my friends place a floor above mine... I have no idea if it was because of the low tip, but I think I was blacklisted.
