On a serious note, saying that she works for tips or depends on tips isn't that outlandish, but asking for $5 after you tipped her $2 is ridiculous. I cannot imagine that works often.

I honestly tend to avoid situations where I have to tip because of stuff like that. When I do tip, I tend to 20%+, but I pick up my own pizza most of the time and go to fast casual places. I can't stand the awkwardness when a neighboring table stiffs the waiter and you can see the disappointment on the waiter's face.
