No, getting $800 for 8 weeks is going to convince so many people to NEVAR WORK AGAIN

8 weeks, but gig workers can also get.

If we open up on May 1, there is going to be a lot of spending on crap.

Yeah, it's not long term. I don't have an issue with it either. In most cases the government asked these businesses to close or limit operations.

39 weeks. The legislation extended all unemployment benefit periods.

And again, a lot of people seem confused by this, but the CARES Act absolutely makes it possible to earn more in unemployment than a person did while working. You get the full $600 from the feds, even if it puts you over your regular paycheck. There is no cap.

The $600 is a flat rate for everyone who qualifies for UI.

i thought the $600 was only for people that are claiming UI directly because of the corona virus?

And another point, the feds temporarily eliminated work-search requirements, so you're guaranteed to get unemployment from your state for 39 weeks, plus extra $600 from feds every week until August. No incentive to go back before then for huge amounts of people.

This will be very bad for restaurants and other employers with low skilled workers.

We were just talking about the entry pay at our company being drastically lower than the unemployment rate. Tough times to be a Trainee, but we shouldn’t be surprised with what we get at 32k a year.

Yeah this is going be a huge problem for the economy when things get back to normal. No one is going to do the low paying jobs because the government is paying them more to sit at home.

Maybe the low paying jobs should....pay more?

It's $600 on top of the $247 in Louisiana.
