Scruffy went to Miami this weekend, and it really is amazing how the fat population is so much lower in certain cities compared to places in Louisiana.

Now, Scruffy spent all his time in nicer areas which affects that also.

The fat population within this country is a disgrace.

It's crazy nowadays.

I've been working to lose some weight myself after seeing some of the people out there.

Looking at some people definitely makes me want to avoid letting myself get that way.

And it's not just Americans.

Mexico, UK, and a lot of countries in the Middle East and small islands are coming in hot and heavy.

Sugar sweetened beverages are a major culprit. We're drinking more calories now than we're eating, and those calories are from straight refined sugar.

I know what you mean. I lived on the beach and it made me feel fat too which helped because I lost a lot of weight and got in shape. Now I am temporarily back in Louisiana and lost some of the motivation.

It’s amazing how people don’t care about their health. Bout to go on spring break and don’t want to see fat slobs on the beach

Still healthier than high fructose corny syrup but I agree on what you are saying.

Seriously! When I moved to SoCal, it was the strangest phenomenon. In NO, I was the picture of physical fitness. In CA, I was a fat tub of goo. (6'-5", 235#)

But no one is smoking right? That's what matters.

Same here. I've kind of let myself go a little in the last couple years, but after seeing all the fatties around, I don't want to be like them.

Just make a trip to Walmart and it’s all the motivation you need.

Don’t know how you can call yourself a man if you don’t workout 5 days a week

Where were you traveling? Not doubt there are large people everywhere but it's just so much more common in the South. It's always funny to me when I was living in Cali or just traveling in general and I land back in DFW or IAH on my way to Lake Charles and the sheer size of the average person changes.

the really scary part to me is, the average Mississippian in 1970s was LIGHTER than the average Coloradoan or Californian is today.

Down-voted because there's nothing remotely or even relatively healthy about consuming refined sugar. It's poison.

Just do anything and don’t eat like a slob.

Hell, go at least 3 times a week. One hour per day.

It isn’t hard.
