No, and no to wasp spray. One is made for bears and the other for insects. Neither are made to repel humans. While both may work, they are not legal forms of protection and honestly, could actually give a perp some legal defense if shite in fact went sideways.
Pepper spray to the eyes is probably the best deterrent. While pepper spray to the skin might not get rid of the most aggressive of individuals, when it gets into your eyes you literally can not see. Plus, it will make them so red and you will be rubbing them so hard that if you have to ID this person in a police line-up it becomes really obvious who the culprit is. That coupled with situational awareness. I would also say BJJ although I am biased since I am an instructor but a simple kick to the nuts and a palm to the nose will work very well if it gets that close.

The one issue with jogging is that it's a PITA to carry something in your hand the whole time you are running. Even one of those small hand held mace sprays would get annoying mile after mile.
Maybe a fanny pack type thing could be made to holster a gun, etc and would be reachable immediately in case of an attack

A working knowledge of Brazilian jiu jitsu. Seriously.

So many people dont take this into account especially when recommending a gun. If someone gets the drop on you its hard for anyone to use a firearm effectively.
What’s your point?? Yeah if someone walks up behind you and shoots you in the head and clubs you to death while you are sleeping there is nothing you can do. But in every single situation I’d rather have a firearm on my person than any of the other ignorant bullshite like wasp spray recommended. Folks recommending anything else are in fantasyland. The world has changed and if you live in certain areas of the country you are living in a state of de facto warfare. You need to adopt precisely that mindset because you are being hunted and targeted, it’s reality.

An attitude, first and foremost, to protect their God given right to life.
I've made it clear that if they're ever attacked, they immediately turn the tables and kill their attacker. Immediately and forcefully. If they can't use their weapon, the immediate response is to attack any and all soft tissue and kill them dead and tell the LEO they feared for their life.

Wasp spray goes up to 25 at least, much better than pepper spray learned that in a defense class years ago.

My point is just as I stated. I have no issue with carrying a gun, but if someone gets the drop on you at close range and puts a gun to your face, pulling your firearm is a dicey proposition. You will have to be quick as frick and lucky. If you are not extremely well trained(and most people are not) , the gun can be more of a liability. Frankly I would and do carry a knife and sometimes my gun as well.

Dude I'm well aware. I was robbed and nearly murdered by 4 guys in my garage. I distracted one of the guys that was armed and ran but they shot at me anyway and missed. In my situation a gun may have been effective b/c I noticed them 15 feet away and even though they had their guns drawn I could/ve used my car as cover. Every situation and every person is different.

Assuming this is because she is already carrying one? In that case a second gun.

The Rosary. You cringe? Hey , my mother’s Rosaries saved my life many a time. Including one night when I fell asleep at the wheel, was awakened by the voice of a woman, just as I was about to be run over by an eighteen wheeler at 2 am in the morning. That was a defining moment in my life for me. I toned down (a lot) on my partying, eventually found a wonderful girl, married and now we approach our 56th year together on our way to forever . My Mom was and is a saintly woman. I miss her. Try it (the Rosary)and see for yourself

All of that is excellent advice. In self defense situations you want the easiest and simplest solutions that give you the best chance to escape. If you ever have to draw your weapon in self defense, most people are not going to have the opportunity to worry about headshots or any of that Hollywood shite. And depending on what you’re carrying you may or may not stop a perp cold with multiple body shots. Honestly 90% of people should be carrying a type of pepper spray. It’s probably higher than that.
And I love people that say they carry knives for self defense. I love The Patriot too, but the chances that anyone is going to take down attackers with a knife and tomahawk is zero point zero.
