Looking for some advice on how to proceed. My daughter just completed a week at a sleep over camp. On her last night, they had a scheduled water balloon fight. An employee and counselor of the camp, allowed the boys in his cabin to fill the balloons with urine, and water from a mop bucket that was in a bath house. At least one little girl was hit with a urine-filled balloon, became physically sick to the point of vomiting, and was traumatized to the point that she was uncontrollably crying. My daughter was hit with a "mop-bucket water" balloon. She started coming down with symptoms of sore throat and sinus congestion the night she came home.

The parents were not notified of this. We found out from our children. I have since talked to the camp director and was told the counselor was fired the next day after the incident. What does the OT think?

Are you looking to take legal action?

I think I'd just find another camp.

I’d be fricking pissed. This is how I would handle it.

If your daughter doesn’t need medical attention (doctors visit and medicine) AND the counselor was actually fired, leave it be but never send them to that camp again and let it be know what happened.

If your daughter needs medical attention, any cost incurred should be paid by the camp.

What a shitty counselor

Sounds like they took action.
If employee was an adult I'd say call police. He deserves prosecution in my opinion.

I wouldn't send my kid back to that camp.

Not sure what else there is to do in this case.

My daughter was scheduled to go back for the next week, this week, but obviously I didn't allow that. Now she's sick. The director said I would receive a refund on Monday for this weeks tuition. I have not received anything. I paid with an AMEX.

Counselor was likely a teenager. Teenagers make bad decisions. If he was fired, then justice served. Not sure what other outcomes you're looking for, other than the camp paying for any medical costs from a sick kid? Other than that, it would suck if it were my kid, but some people are assholes is about all I could explain to her. Piss balloon to the face is not something to expect walking down the street, but at summer camp or visiting team at Tiger Stadium, ehhh .......

Edit: might have to start thinking about adding mop bucket water to the arsenal

If you have to take your kid to the doctor and it costs more than about 40 bucks send them an itemized receipt. A fine for dumbass behavior.

Sounds like a prank went too far. Counselor was fired. End of story. Pick a different camp next year.

The counselor that approved the balloons with urine and mop water is an adult. The kids that threw them are 7-9 years old. I don't blame the kids, but the counselor probably got off easy with just being fired.

Sounds like they agreed to a refund for the next week, but I could also see a refund for the week they were actually there. That's pretty disgusting. If the kids did it on their own and the counselor was just terrible at his job, then that's another thing. But if he was "taking part" and actively allowing it, that's pretty bad. Teenagers are teenagers, but this is a pretty damned bad decision. If it was just mop water, meh. Piss balloons is another level though.

Look, sometimes you get pissed on at summer camp. Such is life. They’re going to experiment with this at some point. Might as well just get it out of the way.

His arse needs to be charged criminally. If he was 16 or something I'd understand.

visiting team at Tiger Stadium,

do people really do that? In my 11 years at LSU I have never actually seen it happen but have heard stories. was that just a thing that happened once and some bama fan is pissed he doesn't have more to drink?
