Have always purchased new cars, but looking at a few CPO BMW X3 with 11,000 - 15,000 miles - from Peake BMW in NOLA.
2025, 1 owner, eveerything clean, no accidents.

My thought process here is that there is still 3 years and 35K - 39K miles left on the original factory warranty, plus an additional year / unlimited miles from CPO program. So I am getting a 4 year/unlimited miles warranty.

Price is a bit negotiable, but most 25s in stock are priced about 12-20% below original MSRP.

Would love to hear any success / horror stories.

Shop for BMW's coming off lease. I purchased a 540i-X-Drive, MSRP new at $78k, for $38k with only 19k miles.

That a little high in first year mileage for me, but I have bought gently used vehicles a couple of times to include my current vehicle and never had a problem. The one vehicle that I have owned and had several problems was a brand new one.

If you are interested there may be good extended warranty programs you can purchase through BMW but your milage may be too high to qualify.

I guess it depends on who is certifying the vehicle. If it's a BMW from a BMW dealership, that's one thing.

if it's a 15 year old car from Honest Johns used car and BBQ emporium, i might not be as inclined to be confident about it.

Is it pre-owned?

Yup!

Certified!

What a scam.

Certified through that brand's dealership is legit. There's usually a warranty with CPO that can often extend well past the original manufacturers' warranty.

I see zero issues with CPO. Plus, someone else has already eaten most of the depreciation, and there's more negotiating room for the buyer.

Sounds like the are selling the car they used as a loaner and saying it had 2 owner since Peake owned the car.

How do you know which ones are coming off lease?

You mean by just going to the dealership and asking?

I know you can get great deals by buying previously leased cars.

Just get rid of it before the 4th year expires.

Big fan of CPOs (branded dealership only).

Same. Just got a CPO GLS 450 with a 4.5 year warranty remaining. Very happy with it.

FACTORY CPO is GTG. Dealer CPO is not.

BMW is one of the top 2-3 makes where I would only buy factory CPO if looking at used.

I mean, you just ask the dealer. Usually they advertise it. I got this from a Maserati dealer.

Means nothing if the dealer calls it that. Take it to a 3rd party mechanic on test drive and have him or her look it over.

If I’m spending a lot of money for a car, I want to get it exactly the way I want it. No compromises. BMW’s are already money pits.

The last new cars we bought were Saturns, that long ago.
The rest were used, aside from my husbands ancient British car accumulation, all were one owners.

I do remember looking at one I would have liked, fast talking salesman about how they had totally gone over the car, yada, yada, yada. I looked at it and asked him why there was no gasket around the windshield as other cars in his dealership had them. He had no answer and he had no sale.

The truth is you will never know exactly how the previous owner kept it up or drove it.

If it doesn’t have any flag in the title and you like it, get it.

Most likely, you will be fine but there is always a chance of it being a turd

Certified preowned. Yep, it's preowned alright. We can certify that.
