On Tuesday, May 26, Gov. Jeff Landry, Louisiana Economic Development and local and regional partners will announce a “major economic development project” coming to central Louisiana.

Officials say the project will “further accelerate Louisiana’s unprecedented economic growth.” The announcement will be made at the England Airpark Community Center in Alexandria at 11:30 a.m.

No official word has been given on what the project might entail, but as Daily Report previously reported, Applied Digital, a digital infrastructure developer based in Dallas, appears to be positioning a site in Rapides Parish for a large-scale data center project.

Why can’t states bring actual long term jobs not just to build? Actually talked with a candidate ( in Mississippi) about this exact thing.

Louisiana offers some of the lowest industrial electricity prices in the country. The state recently rewrote sales and use tax laws specifically to offer massive rebates on data center equipment (CapEx), and AI chips.

The Hyper scaling of data centers require massive footprints and intense cooling systems, making Louisiana's abundant industrial land and water access highly attractive for many FAANG’s.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is partnering with STACK Infrastructure to build interconnected, state-of-the-art data center campuses in Caddo and Bossier Parishes for cloud computing (OpEx), thus will bring hundreds of white and blue collar jobs jobs for the Parishes.

Louisiana ranks 3rd in the country for fresh water surface area, top 10 in fresh groundwater volume, and top 8 in % of top water.

Bet the majority of people complaining about data centers are simultaneously the most vocal about LA’s shat economy.

Gawd forbid Louisiana utilizes one of its most abundant resources to grow its economy.

This is just near Boyce on the West side of 49. It was a beautiful tract of very good farm land that was family owned. Very sad to see it go.

But that has been under construction for some time now. Kinda odd to announce it now, no?

Also that center must have some deal with CLECO being so near.

And it'll bring about 10 permanent jobs to the area. The rest of the shite will be done remotely.

Better than no jobs at all and the infrastructure won’t be stressed for years to come trying to accommodate 300-500 families.

The county will also receive anywhere from 1-1/2 to 2 million in tax revenue a month. Massive gain! Sounds like a win to me.

Because nobody building these things actually wants to live there too.
