Why can’t states bring actual long term jobs not just to build?

Do you think companies are going to get up and walk away soon from a $10 billion investment?? Sounds long term to me.

Now it finally makes sense why Bill Gates is the largest landowner in LA and Arkansas.

I'm including all the other job growth occurring around it. The datacenter will be huge so it'll be significantly more than 10, I assure you.

Ok….. so are we talking direct or indirect jobs? Clearly there will be more than 10 jobs created temporarily from the construction of the data center.

How about this math: No data center + zero surrounding job growth because of it = 0. But you're cool with 0, I guess.

Again, are we talking direct or indirect? Yea, I’m super cool with zero jobs for LA who has had abysmal economic growth for decades.

Meta would not have come here without in depth talks with Entergy supporting the facility, so you have to include those job numbers as well.

No shite…. We got Mr. MBA over here. Entergy (who will figure out some way to saddle the customer with all this cost, that’s a whole another discussion) wouldn’t have agreed to it if the Governor wouldn’t have passed an EO “Project Lightning Speed” allowing them to blow pass permitting and
regulations to built the shite. I see you left out Hyundai and Cf. So how many direct jobs are you guessing or pulling out of your arse that the data center will provide?

And everyone familiar with both Meta and Entergy knows that they always operate with the best interest of the rate payer/citizen in mind.

You’re as fricking delusional as the people you’re criticizing. Which one of them do you work for?

whoa. holy goal post move batman.

My point is that data centers do not provide many long-term jobs. Responding by listing unrelated manufacturing centers, power plants, or other projects that will create long-term jobs doesn’t refute that point. It just changes the subject.

If I do then I can't complain because I would be part of the reason why they have built the data center

Until you no longer use things that require data centers then you have no room to bitch about data centers.

Maybe they are turning the national forest into a data center. Republicans are working on a deal to turn the land over "for economic benefits".

I think they're also doing a rare earth separation facility there too. But that was previously announced so probably not this release.

Exactly.

Everybody always wants the data centers because of the increase in number of jobs, more tax revenue, etc.

But people rarely point out the benefit of the crap ton of data about virtually everything that is being stored in our backyard. Making this massive amount of data available to the population benefits society as a whole and takes us all to the next level.

Perhaps the data center down the street won’t give Uncle Joe himself a permanent job. But the vast amount of data that Uncle Joe will have access to will be invaluable. One day it will get to a point where Uncle Joe has a thought that he needs a new pair of underwear. The data center will be able to process this thought, already know Joe’s favorite underwear color, size, brand, preference (Michael Jordan style; tighty whities, boxers, etc), his address, his credit card info, etc. and before Uncle Joe gets back home, the robot operating at the direction of the data center will have delivered Uncle Joe his new pair of underwear.

This is just one example, but the possibilities are endless.

What was being raised on that farm land?
