local radio

We used to call the local AM radio station during their “Swap Shop” on the weekends and say we’re interested in adopting kittens and give a friend’s home phone number.

If you wanted to know someone’s address or phone number, all you had to do was look in the phone book.

The Boot had penny pitcher night.

They would also deliver a chili burger, cheese fries, and 6 pack of beer to your dorm room. I miss being able to eat junk food and not feel like crap.

Having our own water fountains.

Now we have to share with the whites and [gasp]….the Js.

Shoot, I remember when we used to be able to clear an entire swimming pool just by jumping in.

My silver flip phone that could barely text and had no apps. A time when my friends and I would be outside playing sports all of the time instead of inside staring at screens, like so many nowadays (myself largely included).

Yep, but it’s a quick way to find out if you are important or just convenient. I kept one friend. The rest couldn’t give a frick less when I left.

Did Byronz in Baton Rouge close? We loved to go to that bistro when we had kids at LSU.

Getting my unbiased news and reading from a paper news paper.

Grabbing a copy of the Advocate and the Reville to browse before starting a class in the quad at LSU is a core memory. The feel of the paper on your hands and the smell of the paper takes me back to the turn of the century.
