The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center board has delayed a final decision on approving a huge new entertainment-focused neighborhood on the riverfront after some commissioners raised concerns over the amount of affordable housing included in the project.

They should be required to add and equivalent amount of affordable housing where they live.

Let’s not build something nice and let it turn to shite over 20 years like we always do, let’s build it where no one wants anything to do with it from the beginning!

HUD won't finance a project unless there are provisions for affordable housing. So they have to include some below market rates at least for a while.

Leaders of New Orleans are completely against economic growth. All these out of state firms and businesses who want to invest here meet with leaders, then leave in disbelief on how inept they are.

Then they choose to expand in Houston or Atlanta.

So they add Section 8 housing then violent crime will increase in the area. Seems reasonable

That’s awesome that they are considering a development with a built in ghetto.

Why does HUD need to finance an entertainment district connected to the Convention Center?

I hate terms like that.

Houses right now are just not affordable.

And the attempt to create a normal size house priced at a point where low income families can afford it is unrealistic. At a certain income level, you can’t afford the upkeep and cost of having a house. That’s not putting anyone down, that’s just the reality of owning a house

Democrats always have to make sure their main constituency is able to ruin every private investment.

You simply don't understand the richness of the New Orleans culture.

Shootouts are now considered a new medium of high-art entertainment.

"Not enough affordable housing" has killed more projects than any politician is willing to admit.
