LSU offered me as an out of state student better scholarships than any other school in the country back in 2008.

May daughter was first in her class, commencement speaker, 33 on ACT and had 43 hours of college credit when she started college, still cost me 6k a semester to send her to LSU. Alabama offered to pay her to go there. She's a tiger tho

I agree, but he can't overcome it.
He has been accepted to Auburn and the scholarship they offered (with out of state) is actually better.

I had similar scores 10 years ago and all I got offered was a 1000 a semester. They hardly give Louisiana residents. Which with TOPS is still a pretty good deal.
Could have gone to ULM, tech, etc. for free or make money. But who wants to do that??
LSU offers TONS of scholarships to OOS kids though. Especially Texas.

This must be the case everywhere. My kid was valedictorian, 4.0 GPA, and 35 ACT. Our in state major university in the Midwest offered $10,000 per year. Auburn offered full tuition, a technology scholarship, honors scholarship, departmental scholarship, and a study approad scholarship. With outside scholarships, college didn’t cost a thing. Guess where my child went?

Have you looked at private colleges? I had a 3.7 with a 32 on the ACT and schools like Samford, Millsaps, Spring Hill were throwing scholarship money at me. Ended up going to Spring Hill for undergrad because it was cheaper than LSU. I came back to LSU for grad school though.

When he toured LSU, they sat down with whoever is in charge of the academic scholarships and told him everything Alabama was offering and asked what could be done to get a better offer from LSU. Told him that his son wanted to be in BR but couldn't pass up what Bama was throwing at him if LSU couldn't at least close the gap on what was being offered.
The LSU guy's Response: "This is what we offer, if you don't like it then go to Bama."
How can our Flagship school be so cool with top talent just leaving the state?

Smart kids go to out of state schools because they are smart, your kid can go to better schools for less, or even no cost, in what universe would this be a issue to be concerned with?

He's upset because LSU won't offer more of the taxpayers' money than she's already getting.
Do you know where she is ranked in the incoming class? Maybe that amount is appropriate for her position.
