Stipend is 475 plus there is free international study. Trust me LSU did not come close to what Bama offered. Side note is that we have family In Tuscaloosa and she felt more comfortable on the tour there. LSU tour sucked and the counselors were basically assholes when we asked questions. Her tour at Bama included a 30 minute meeting with the university president. My daughter cares less about football and only wants to get into Med school so her being at Bama bothers me none

I guess, just seems a little far fetched based on the numbers each school provides.

For in state talent, LSU is obviously uber competitive.

There were not close when you consider that the fact that the legislature can make tops go away next year. It was not worth the risk. Plus she liked Bama and felt better there more. This is a stop in her journey.

Apply at Alabama. They will throw money at you. I’m not kidding

I know. My nephew got offered more by Bama than LSU. I told my sister I would disown him if he went to Alabama.

Yep, but instead of addressing this type of problem, they’re too busy pushing the new “Holistic Admissions Policy” agenda.

Going from 0-60 in the opposite direction.

Good for her, regardless.

Yup, nephew got a 33 ACT...pretty much no help from LSU. ULL will pay him, Tech is free...

If he got a 33 on the ACT why is he trying to go to ULL or Tech?

Demand.

My kid is a National Merit Finalist and scored a 36 ACT. All AP classes and two research projects with LSU professors.

It would have been cheaper by $5000 a year to attend Bama.

We were told by a representative of LSU that since our kid went to a local private school, we, as parents, were used to paying for school.

Need less to say, he went out of state cheaper.

Now that you and the thread agree that your son will do better elsewhere get into the departments and profs at schools that will welcome him.
Its not just Alabama.

And 100% of the time the department matters.
Even top 25 universities have some stellar depts and some not so much. Profs move.

LSU has a piss-poor endowment? Old news.

The problem is simple, LSU alumni would rather have their money buy a $3 million dollar world class Tiger habitat, than attract world class students.

After scholarships it cost us the same amount for my daughter to go to Tulane than it would have LSU. She refused to go out of state.

Did she choose ND or UVA?
Guess it depends on major.

Is that why you failed to change "as" to, "then"?

Jk, from fellow alum.
