The only way to rectify this is to require a higher minimum ACT score,
Pretty sure this just happened.
Unless something has change since February a minimum score did not happen. In fact it’s re-implementation had been minimized a good bit thanks to board members like James Williams, and it is also being implemented across the next 2 fall classes (2027’s & 2028’s). Just like Tate’s gaming the average ACT scores people need to realize what was implemented in February (outside of any recent updates) will be considered one attribute among many for committee to “holistically” consider and will not even being fully implemented for the most likely students getting scholarships until the fall freshman class of 2028.
quote:
The LSU Board of Supervisors voted Friday to reinstate a requirement for applicants to its Baton Rouge campus to provide standardized test scores, but students will not need to reach a minimum score to be admitted.
…At first (2027), the new test requirement policy will apply only to students with GPAs below 3.5, but then for all applicants starting with the summer 2028 semester.
Several members of the board expressed concern that requiring a minimum test score would have a detrimental impact on students from rural areas and poor families who generally do not have the same access to test preparation programs as those who live in larger cities or come from wealthier families.
“There are plenty of kids who we want at LSU who don’t come from households where they can afford to get that additional help on testing,” board member James Williams said. “There seem to be very compelling reasons for us to use test scores as one criteria, but not determinative and mandatory.”
Blanchard assured Williams and other concerned board members test scores will be just one part of what LSU’s admissions team is taking into consideration. The provost said the scores could also be helpful for other purposes, such as placing students with low scores into the right classes so they can catch up to their peers.

I’ll have to see whether LSU will rent out that space for a “LSU White Alumni Tailgate” for the Texas or Alabama games.

My game day route is to take an Uber to the Chimes. We usually get off around Highland and State. The first few games were pretty crowded w non-game attenders, in some revealing clothing (I’m old). After the shooting the cops stepped up their game and the walk was much easier. Nobody ever accosted me or my guests tho, and once we got around the corner to the tailgate in the visitor center parking lot, the crowd thinned out to game attenders.

none of the ghetto bullshite going on near LSU has anything to do with LSUs admissions standards. The fact that this culture exists at all, clearly does not give a frick about civilized society, and populates the area within walking distance of the north gate is the problem.
While main reason is just the typical behavior seen since the summer of love from its neighbors to the North LSU has helped attract them including the welcome party they held last fall with arse shakers hanging over the side of the Assembly Center’s walkway. It appears to be the reason the new administration has moved it in doors according to one poster here, but it was not the only culture shift on campus. Also, just like there are always some blacks who can’t leave the trash behind when they move to nicer neighborhoods by whatever means there are going to be some students who have the same issue. Even for the ones who don’t want to associate with the trash prior friends or family will push the association. The sista fight at the honors dorm was part of Tate’s first full class that was all his.
Any of those students wanting to play the race card and get offended by a piece of rope blown into a tree will force a less aggressive approach to the non-student trashy trouble makers. The trash will also work to take advantage of this fully.
quote:It wouldn’t be quite as bad or at least as difficult to point out the non-students that appear to be up to no good especially on campus or just off campus in student areas if LSU’s demographics and total number of students were at pre-Tate levels. Like many have mentioned the people north of LSU have been the same for decades, so both the summer of love culture changes and Tate’s changes in demographics, speed of increasing enrollees beyond infrastructure, and culture changes by LSU & on LSU’s campus have led to increasing issues by visitors the past couple of years.
The only answer is complete exclusion for everyone. No activities or gatherings at all

What are you talking about? That looks like a good time to me.
Of course, I like to walk around with sliders and no shirt whilst drinking a quart of beer with a brown paper bag wrapped around it.
Usually have Tiki or Hawaiian Swim trunks on.

Landry responded by closing "Unity Field" (which I didn't even know existed until last season) and beefing up security.
We have tailgated across the street from "Unity Field" for 15 plus years. I can say with certainty it was never a thing before 2025.

The moral of this story is to never play southern again, ever, for any reason

Just the north gates? I thought the entire campus was surrounded by hood now.

LSU could admit only valedictorians and this problem would be the same. It’s a Baton Rouge problem not an LSU problem. The only answer is complete exclusion for everyone. No activities or gatherings at all
Perhaps. But the area outside of the North Gates has been...let's say not so good...for a long time. Decades. Yet, it is only in the last few years where you have seen some, presumed, spillover into campus. This gathering, the shootings during football games, etc.

It’s not 80% but it’s the most it’s ever been. I’d bet 25%-30%, with white student being around 50%. The remaining 20-25% mixed between Asian and Hispanic.
25-20% is enough to kill absolutely any institution. Nothing can survive intact with that high a percentage.

It'll please you to know that the same crew is planning one of their "takeovers" either there or on the parade grounds this year...expect it.

All that said…are people going to start watching at home with this being a major reason?
If not controlled then yes people will avoid campus. And people will feel less of a connection to their school as it gets more ghetto and donations will fall.

They are advertising another round of this on Friday night 8/21. If I’m BRPD I am finding whatever technicality it is to shut this down and kill it with the quickness. They will continue to do this every week until it’s stopped.
Ruining everything is actually their goal. They take pride in destruction.

This right here! Although it is both their problems due to the fact that LSU sits next to the hood, and it would serve both LSU and BR well to get it under control.
Why has it not been near the problem it has been in the last few years?
That coincides with the extremely lax admissions standards.

Social media platforms have been around since 2005. They've been especially popular since at least 2010. This shite wasn't a problem back in 2010. It only have been a problem more recently.
