Charlotte, NC—very safe in the nice areas, the bad areas aren’t that bad, good/bad areas are larger in area, and not a checkerboard like NOLA. Light rail down the south end neighborhood has developed walkable apartments, breweries, restaurants nearby. Decent and safe greenway trails. Good public schools if you live in a good area (Providence HS, Ardrey Kell HS and their feeder schools), which is a rarity for a city this size.

So you’re happy with how the city functions but decided a new mayor was needed?

As I said, being safer, cleaner, and more well run than Chicago is a low bar. Democrats have gone insane and their progressive policies destroy cities. Those policies haven’t entirely started to pop up here but with a Republican mayor I know they won’t creep in.

Oh, apparently the schools here aren’t great. Without looking I would guess it’s entirely dem run.

Seems like you are the one listening to propaganda.

Plus the whole blm and city of Chop or whatever was an utter disgrace. Keep drinking that kool aid.

Except for their development/population growth exceeding their existing water supply, I won't disagree.

You could be sitting at the same red light in Austin for the last 10 years. Traffic is bad now, but 10 years ago it was an absolute nightmare.

Tecklenburg was ousted because he didn’t do anything, there was no threat of progressive policies coming from his office, he hardly cared enough to keep the trash picked up.

Schools are run at the county level independent from the city and members of Moms for Liberty control 5 of the 9 board seats. Mount Pleasant schools are good. The rest aren’t great. That’s less politics and more demographics.

I've had family in St. George since the 1940's. I remember visiting as a kid in the early 80's - it was so small back then. Now, its much larger, clean and safe, beautiful scenery, great golf.

And if you live there you are in close proximity of national parks like Zion, under 2 hours from Vegas, and skiing. They opened up a brand new airport not to long ago but its expensive to fly in and out of. My family still flies out of Vegas.

If you've never been there - its a hot desert climate.

If only Bogalusa met the population qualifications, it'd be a land slide winner.

Yes, but still has some rough areas. Same with Longview.

Do those rough areas have a common denominator?

I’ve actually heard good things about Cincinnati. Never been though.

FYI your “chili” is garbage.

$500M park largely funded by Kaiser foundation money opened along the river in 2018 is legit.

I work exclusively with school districts and admins and outside of very rural districts 90% are run by democrats or RINOs. Even very well run ones.

Our local school board had two people elected that changed their party affiliation to Republican 6 months before they declared.

Our superintendent says he’s a Republican but complains about everything Abbott does on a weekly basis on X.

Nasty ‘Nati is underrated for sure.

I lived there in between stints in Boston and New Orleans. Not a powerhouse, but has its own charms for sure. Very hilly with gorgeous bridges and riverscapes.

I support the local “chili.” It’s unusual, but it’s own thing. Stoner food logic. Some Greek dude came up w recipe, right?

That's a suburb. I can name hundreds of suburbs that are reasonably well run.

We have a big problem in this country. The exercise presented in the OP should be much easier, and should feature more names than smaller/mid sized towns in the mountain west, Texas/Florida, or New England.

lol why is this being downvoted? it's spot on

Miami is probably the safest, most well run cosmopolitan city in the US compared with other big cities. Its crime rates have declined in the 20 years and the city has become much safer for tourists. Problem is that there’s too many retirees from all over the country as well as South America who want to live there, and it has a population density that’s close to that of Manhattan/Beverly Hills.

It’s a million times safer than Chicago and New Orleans and it’s not even close.
