Yep. My youngest is just about right in the middle of GenZ and she's in the 11th grade. The youngest ones are like 11 years old

A bunch of gen z is still in high school
And ain't learning shite. I graduated high school in 2010. All I did was play spades and watch movies my junior and senior years. All ya had to do was show up and do your little 10 minute booklet.

No hvac, mechanics, plumbers, elevator technicians, welders, etc in this story. Wonder why

While I agree that your 20's ought to be a time when you should live in a less than glorious starter home or apt, I dont see the housing market coming down nor do I see wages/salaries going up or catching up in the next 10 years.
Something will give eventually, the market always adjusts. If prices go up too much, people will simply move elsewhere, squat, etc (ie: make it too expensive for landlords to keep prices that high).
The problems we're still facing are inflation from too much currency in the system and the belief that no one should ever have to sacrifice in order to get ahead. I've lived in some absolute shitholes in my life, one place in particular being barely a step above being homeless.
The difference is that I understood that it was my decisions which kept me poor. Once I decided to stop playing so much in the bars and I focused on going back to school to get an education in a legitimately in-demand field and then parlayed that degree into a worthwhile job, I found myself renting a better place. And then I could afford a nicer vehicle. And then I could afford to put money down on a house. Etc.
Our current media seems hellbent on making everything some dramatic condemnation of life, the country, or implying some grave injustice by some unnamed "them" by snapshotting people in situations with the inference that those specific people have always been there and will always be there (in this case, "there" equates to income level).
Fun fact: most people don't stay in the same income bracket they started in with the majority of people being upwardly mobile over their lives.

"Pay rent, starve for a month".
Very common here in S. Florida. I have heard so many stories of 2 families renting a house to live together and split the cost of rent.
Also stories of a family sub leasing to one or 2 college students or young professionals for extra income.

Shocking! IT professionals, engineers, and accountants aren’t on this list. Get a real job losers.
The people from this article do seem to need real jobs, but what about teachers? A very respectable job, but the average starting salary around here seems to be $42k. After taxes about $2450 a month. That’s not going to go far. When teachers can’t live a decent life, it seems like something is out of order.

When my boys found out what my electrician and trim carpenter make in a year, they have no desire to pursue anything outside of construction.

When did moving in with your gf, turn into "splits a studio..." Isn't that how it works with most relationships when they move in together; they split the rent?
Also, if you can't afford the rent when your wife takes maternity leave; you probably are not financially ready for raising a kid either.

But there’s something that many Gen Z-ers feel is not within their realm of possibility: owning a home.

About one third of the generation’s adults live with their parents and plan on staying with them as a long-term housing solution.
I'm considering selling my house and living in a travel trailer simply to avoid this scenario.

No duh. Jobs pay $16 dollars and apartments are minimum $1000 now. Boomers and Gen X ruined the economy.
i mean boomers and pre boomers did ruin the economy but gen z voted for it. Dont lump Gen X, Xennials and millenials into that shite. We havent been able to get in power because fricking silent generation and old boomers wont frickign give it up.
but the OP is full of nut jobs. Bunch of people who are pursing "dreams" instead of going into fields that pay well. They are a typical Liberal voter.

Just watch....Boomers and Millennials are going to gang up on Gen-X at the voting booth and have us pay for everything.

Wait that’s their studio? Already looks like a huge studio apartment.

Plenty for a modest lifestyle, my fiancée lived on less than half that for years while pursuing her Ph.D and DMD. Now she makes almost 10x that per month but she sacrificed a lot of so-called "needs" to get there, worked incredibly hard, and took zero student loans. It's not the income but living within it that these kids can't manage.
