New Arena, hotels, research buildings to be built along Nicholson at old LSU golf course

No surprise here. But they even have some basic site plans already...
The second link onto Nicholson will be a must have if they build this. The railroad tracks kind of make this an awkward spot without a second outlet other than Gourrier.

For months, LSU officials have said it would be premature to discuss a location for a $400 million arena they want to build on campus.
But their emails show one site appears to be the clear favorite.
Consultants, attorneys and LSU officials have focused on the site of the LSU Golf Course at Nicholson Drive and Gourrier Avenue as the potential home for the new arena. They’ve gone as far as running studies on how putting the arena there would affect traffic patterns, according to renderings and emails obtained by The Advocate | The Times-Picayune through a public records request.

I can't wait until universities start seeing attendance numbers take a nosedive so we can stop wasting money on stupid shite like this

That's already happening, but LSU's enrolment is bucking that trend and has climbed substantially in the past 10 years.
BTW - wasn't Baton Rouge supposed to widen Nicholson south of campus 20 years ago? Did that get Broom'd too?

If it's a semi decent rain Burbank won't be an entry either. You will need your boat in front of walk-ons.

I like it... should be nice.
What's the plan for the old PMac once the new arena opens? Will the new arena be named PMac or something newer/woker?

Heard there were 3 potential site and that this was the only logical site of the 3. Heard they were already looking for spots on Gourrier to set op construction trailers.
Heard they looked at moving Bernie Moore and putting it there but was too costly.
If this goes then Nicholson needs widening to Lee. And they need to bring another outlet to river road from the back side.

They should build something like this so pedestrians and cars can easily get to the area from campus directly even if there is a train. If there will be restaurants and hotels, there will be a lot of traffic going into the area all the time. The overpass can be pedestrian only on gamedays for football, baseball, or basketball.
And Gourrier needs to probably be reformatted to include sidewalks on both sides, more lanes, + some street parking. It's still a rural 2 lane format with open ditches west of Nicholson.

That will need to be leveled soon TBH. Even if they don't build this new stadium.

This is impossible. A bunch of uneducated boomers on TD told me they don’t send their kids to LSU or college. Only trade school.

I’ll miss parking and walking next to tiger stadium and mikes cage to get to the Pmac to watch some bball

Honestly I hate this idea. They are going cheaper rather than what’s best.
I’d truly be ok with spending a season at the River center while the PMAC is demo’d and rebuilt in place. There’s something about having your facility in the heart of campus
What are they going to do with the basketball and gymnastics training facilities?

Tbh, they would probably need some roads going to and from Tigerland, in this arena area. Here’s the excuse to blow those bars/apartments/etc. and totally reshape some of Tigerland/Brightside.

The plan is for the PMAC to stay in place for all other sports (gym, volleyball, basketball practice facility, etc) because the new center is going to be scheduling concerts and events around basketball right?

Nearby hotels and tons of premium seating options in the new arena. It was glaringly obvious from the survey(s) they sent out that was their main focus. This arena will be designed with more than just sports in mind.

I wonder what two at grade railroad crossings will have to be eliminated to get the Railroad to agree to accommodate this one new crossing at Crescent Road.
Also, why not tie Crescent Road in at West Parker? Or East Boyd?
