Fiat currency sucks

Look up the Dollar Milkshake Theory. It could be playing out before our eyes.

Compared to currency being "backed" by a rock? The only value in anything is what we assign it

I’ve often wondered this, if everyone is in debt, who are we in debt too?
It’s like the ouroboros snake.
We are in debt with them and they are in debt with us.

I never thought I’d see the day when the Dollar and British Pound were almost equal.
Posted on 9/28/22 at 8:41 am to tiggerthetooth
it's not something i keep up with but it's wild that the dollar is worth more than the pound. i'm sure it's happened before, but not a lot in my lifetime.

Right. But we can’t just make 1000% more gold over night. So the supply of money is more stable than fiat currency. It’s basic economics that has been hijacked by the same people that tell you a man can be a woman and climate change is going to kill us all.
Yet when they talk about economics and modern monetary theory you assume what they say is the gospel. Maybe you should do some research before you are so sure of yourself.
Modern monetary theory is a trash theory just like queer theory or critical race theory. It’s an excuse for the left to print as much money as they want for all their little pet projects.
Well the chickens are coming home to roost. You are about to find out my friend.

No don’t run away. Tell me what you know about modern monetary theory and why it’s better than having a currency on the gold standard.

The good news is inflation is up only about an inch or two.
Posted on 9/28/22 at 2:38 pm to tiggerthetooth
Great for fighting inflation (imports become a lot cheaper)

At the end of the day dollar still the only somewhat stable one. Never understood how Euro was stronger against the dollar. Europe's economies are mainly shite outside Germany. If one little country goes bankrupt they are all screwed. And they all rely on their enemy, Russia, to keep the lights running. Yet investors still thought to invest in it.

Definitely makes it cheaper to vacation in the UK and EU.

Remember, we are not in a recession. It doesn’t matter that we have the 3rd quarter in a row of negative growth.
But it's not like the recession after the housing crash, to many people looking for help and too much money out there getting spent. This is different. Not an economist so I can't figure it out. It's as if we aren't growing the economy for the lack of carpenters and spare parts.

When you redirect a big chunk of your economy to worthless totems like masks, pills that don't work, etc. there will be consequences. When you have people suddenly sitting at home instead of going to work that too will have consequences. Raise rates, lower rates, print money... whatever. Big portions of the world are in the throes of a hysterical death cult and you can't fix that buy changing interest rates. You might as well try to land a 747 using just the trim tabs.
