Milk Expiration Dates

I keep my refrigerator at 34 degrees, yet I can't remember the last time a gallon of milk was still good at the expiration date printed on the jug. Last night, Aug 28, I poured out about half a gallon with an expiration date of Sept 3 because it smelled bad when I opened the jug.
Does anyone else have this problem, or is there perhaps an issue with my regrigerator's thermostat?

The smell bad could be the milk around the lid/mouth. Probably should pour small amount and check.

Yes, I will say Costco Milk lasts past the expiration date. Publix milk never makes it to near the expiration date.

Milk is disguising and I loth the people in my house when I have to throw it out because they love milk but never seem to be able to finish a gallon before it starts clumping up in the jug.
No I don’t buy it so it’s not my wasted money but some how I’m the I only one who can perceive it’s rotting state.

Organic milk. Super pasteurized and typically has 6 week expiration dates.
Is the thermostat in your fridge accurate?
Eta: I'm mildly lactose intolerant and don't drink alot (any) milk. Occasionally, 1-2 a month, I'll have a bowl of raisin bran.

I don't think I've had a glass of milk in 20 years. I don't even eat cereal.

I’ve noticed this with everything lately. Potatoes have been absolute shite all summer.

That's a little fast but once you open it and start using it the surface is exposed to air. And with the jug being fatter at the bottom you have more surface area compared to the remaining milk so it goes even faster.

Well yeah. In fact, milk as a food source is pretty much a European thing. Incidence rate of lactose intolerance is a lot higher in other races.
