Memphis Mom attempts to hit students with car after daughter was accused of being a bully

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) — A mother in Tennessee is accused of attempting to run over high school students during a school fight.

The Memphis Police Department said officers responded April 21 to an assault call at Melrose High School.

According to an affidavit, a mother and her three daughters arrived on campus to attend a parent-teacher meeting for the school band.

After the meeting, police said that the mother approached another parent — later identified as the suspect, Jasmine Dunmars — to have a conversation.

The affidavit said that the mother confronted Dunmars and accused Dunmars’ child of being a bully. The altercation turned physical when Dunmars’ daughter began to fight another student, police said.

During the fight, police said Dunmars ran up to a student and began hitting them. She then entered her vehicle and accelerated, ramming into the other parent’s passenger-side door.

After ramming the other parent’s car, police said that Dunmars reversed and attempted to run over the fighting students. The students jumped out of the way, and Dunmars rammed the parent’s car one more time before leaving the scene.

Dunmars was taken into custody and booked into jail Friday.

She faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and vandalism.
