Do you think a sports promoter would be able to arrange a game between them and the mens team? All the revenue generated for this game goes to the winner. I'd pay to see that.

From what I remember they were offered a contract similar but declined it. They chose to have more people available to get paid. They screwed themselves. She needs to understand payroll. X number of dollars allowed for pay. You choose to make sure extra people get paid so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out every person gets a smaller portion

Megan Rapinoe's "world champion" women lost to a middle school-aged boys' team 5-2.
Our U.S. men's professional team would beat them at least 25-0, and that is a fact.
Equal pay, equal work....LMFAO.

How much did the 14 year old boys team that beat them get paid?
I mean, they "outperformed" the girls, as Megan would say.
Where is the equal pay for the 14 year olds?!!

Like that time they lost to a bunch of 14 year old boys?
If you knew anything about international soccer, you would know these friendly exhibition games don't mean a whole lot. They're often used to keep the players in shape or try new lineup configurations.
Wait, the article you linked actually says something along those lines...

Of course, this match against the academy team was very informal and should not be a major cause for alarm. The U.S. surely wasn’t going all out, with the main goal being to get some minutes on the pitch, build chemistry when it comes to moving the ball around, improve defensive shape and get ready for Russia.

Google FC dallas junior under-15 year old team scrimmage vs USWNT

Imagine if the Men's team was beaten by a 14-15 year old female team. Would the article be written that way? Is that equality?

Sure, that's like the JV scrimmaging the Varsity. Still doesn't mean that the JV should ever win.

Deep down, do you think the USWNT could have won if it was a competitive match?

Shut up, bitch. These world champions lost to 14 year olds.
frick their "professional pay".
Name any TWO women's players that could beat Christian Pulisic, 2 vs.1.... I will wait.
Lmao

Pay should be clearly defined as a % of revenue. Don’t bring in revenue? You don’t get paid much

Professionals losing to some high school freshmen team is embarrassing whether it’s a friendly match or not.
The simple fact is the women opted for more guarantees in their pay structure as well as more benefits. Then they bitch about after the fact. If they want to give those safety nets up for more pay then go that route next negotiation

My understanding from that article is that a huge portion of the men's salary ($34 mil) comes from FIFA? That FIFA is not a negotiable amount essentially.
So both the men and women are making comparable amounts before the FIFA contribution. So basically the women are pissed they aren't getting the men's FIFA contribution?

If by competitive match you mean one where they play their normal lineup and go 100%, I think the USWNT would win more times than not. Do I think they intentionally tanked that game? No. I do think they likely played a lot of inexperienced players, tried some players out at new positions, experimented with some different tactics, and the players went maybe 80% to avoid injuries. That's common on the international stage.

Even under the EPA, the jobs would need to be substantially equal. Playing men’s soccer != playing women’s soccer.
They got the contract they asked for, they are lucky. Doesn’t always happen that way male or female. Honestly had it been the men demanding a different contract the league would have probably told them to pound sand.
