This isn't some shocking story either.

Our college women's BB team regularly got worked in practice by fraternity teams.

The worst part about this is that it's genuinely unfair to pit them head to head. Girls who are the best at what they do shouldn't be compared to men with physical advantages that don't come from merit, but from nature.

But most of the time, guys aren't pulling this shite out of thin air to put women down. It comes up because the women disparage men's sports.

So both the men and women are making comparable amounts before the FIFA contribution. So basically the women are pissed they aren't getting the men's FIFA contribution?

Correct, the women want to piggyback men's FIFA revenue...having cake and eating it too.

No one gives a shite about women's soccer.

Klausner effectively concluded that differences in payment structure were the result of choices made by the women's players and their union -- including guaranteed annual salaries of at least $100,000 for 20 contracted players -- and not discrimination by the federation.

The 32-page ruling went through a detailed history of the collective bargaining process that led to the current CBA between U.S. Soccer and the USWNTPA that was signed in 2017. Klausner noted that representatives for the players rejected a pay-for-play model identical to the men early in those negotiations in 2016. In later negotiations, the players offered a counterproposal with lesser bonuses than the federation's offer in exchange for more contracted players and higher base salaries -- benefits not part of the CBA between U.S. Soccer and the men's union.

She should be shocked at her union because they turned down the incentive and play based CBA in favor of more guaranteed money.

And for the rest of it, she needs to take up her problem with FIFA and not the US Soccer federation. Not US Soccer's fault that FIFA has a $400 million prize pool for the men's World Cup vs $30 million for the most recent women's World Cup. Hell, the men's champion alone got $38 million...more than the entire field for the women's tournament.

No. I do think they likely played a lot of inexperienced players, tried some players out at new positions, experimented with some different tactics, and the players went maybe 80% to avoid injuries. That's common on the international stage.

I think the point is that the USWNT would lose, and probably lose badly, to scores of teenage boys teams across the country (national, club academies, etc.).

I have no idea if they could beat the U-14s, but obviously it's ridiculous for Rapinoe to talk about outperforming the USMNT given that they could play 100 games against the men and wouldn't score. And again, I'm not diminishing the USWNT for sport - shitting on the men's team is something their "stars" do regularly - which is why these topics come up.

What a fig.

A professional team lost to barely pubescent middle schoolers.

That same garbage professional team then demands equal pay with males who actually compete with real athletes.

They ran up the score 13-0 on a thai team that had only made their 2nd world cup appearance ever, hilarious.

How are you this dumb?

Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. A full strength USWNT going 100% would beat almost every teenage boys team in the country. Their technical prowess and chemistry is on a different level. There are probably a handful that could go toe to toe with them and a few could probably beat them.

I took her point to be that on the international stage the women's team has had infinitely better success than the men's team has. I don't necessarily think that qualifies them for equal pay though.

It’s also worth noting the women’s team is good because for decades other countries (especially in Europe) didn’t focus more than two cents on their women’s soccer programs. With Title IX the USA did. I’d say in another 10 years the USA won’t be winning with as much regularity as women’s programs are ramping up rapidly. Especially in Europe. If they had any smarts they should try to consider that during their next negotiation

She's talking about the team comparative success like world cup wins/records, not a direct head to head performance dude

Clearly not, since they got their arse whipped 5-2 by FC Dallas U-15 junior squad

It'll likely be less than 10 years. The gap has closed tremendously, and that was somewhat evident the last World Cup. with another 4 years of age in Morgan, Lloyd, Rapinoe, and a few others, I wouldn't be surprised to see another country as the favorite in the next World Cup.

I like how you think WNBA teams and NBA teams should garner equal pay. Dumb. arse.

Or in this case the USWNT and Men's professional team.

Listen, I don't know exactly where the line would fall, but I have high confidence
that every U-17 MLS club team in America would beat them. They'd get absolutely destroyed by the U-17 USMNT.

Remind me, didn’t the women’s team explicitly demand NOT to be under the men’s contract because the contract they got instead had a higher downside guarantee?

Yes, and she's "shocked" by this reality.

I think the only way to solve this is a winner takes all match between the men’s and women’s team. The winning team will take their own salaries as well as the salaries of the losing team.

Literally everyone is aware of this

She's comparing WC to WC, however, which is absurd given the disparity in depth of competition, investments into national teams, revenue generation, popularity, talent pool, etc.
