Reacting to the decision on "CBS This Morning" Monday, Megan Rapinoe, the team's co-captain, said she was "shocked, to be honest, very shocked, and of course disappointed in this. I didn't feel like the ruling really captured the heart of what we're after."

Rapinoe told "CBS This Morning" cohost Tony Dokoupil, "If we were under the men's contract – which for the record we asked to be under the men's contract, it was repeatedly refused to us, not only in the structure but in the total compensation – if we were under that contract, we would, you know, earn at least three times higher than we have.

"The argument that we've earned more over the course of the time we're talking about than the men's team really misses the whole point. We've won two World Cups, and we've won basically every game that we've played, darn near. So, to have that compared in that way and sort of missing the fact that we've outperformed the men's team, just to say that we earned a little bit more money, I feel like really misses the heart of the gender discrimination suit that we brought against the federation."

"As I'm sure many women who have been in our position can sympathize with, we did ask for the same contract; we asked for the same amount of money, and [we were] repeatedly, and in no uncertain terms, told that was not going to be possible. So, for the ruling to sort of imply that we were peachy-keen with the original deal that we got and now that we're understanding that we could have had more money and so we're going back on it, is very frustrating for us.

If they brought in the same revenue that men do, then they should get equal pay.

However, they don't come close.

So frick her.

Remind me, didn’t the women’s team explicitly demand NOT to be under the men’s contract because the contract they got instead had a higher downside guarantee?

Something to that effect. They also demanded and got lots of other benefits the Men's Team did not.

Simple economics-If networks get more for commercials, ticket prices are more- ya get paid more. Nothing to do with male vs female. Supply and demand. No more , no less.

She is lying and i dont have the time to search for it. She was asked point blank if they would give up their guaranteed pay to go exactly how the men are paid. She said NO.

If they could stay within 5 goals of the men's team, then maybe. But they would get destroyed. Not worth what the men are.

She obviously wasn’t part of the negotiations. Documentation was provided that showed the Women team was offered the same deal as the Men’s. However, it was also documented that the woman’s team turned down that offer for higher base salaries. Sucks to make bad decisions but a collective bargained contract should stand and the court ruled appropriately.

Didn't they try to frame the argument by showing their revenue in a WC year to the revenue of the men's team in a non WC year?

Also, didn't they sign the fricking contract?
