Can they get rid of the self-order kiosks too?

Must be a lot of long term contracts they don't want to get out of.

MaDonalds has a huge contract with Coke. Coca Cola has an entire division dedicated to McDonalds.

If someone refills their coke on the way out their costs skyrocket. The seventeen cents it cost shoots to probably a whole quarter. $1.75 profit per drink just isn’t enough.

They will be like Zaxby's now. When you get that soda, the cup will be so dense with ice there will be maybe a couple ounces of soda in there. You'll suck your face through the straw into the cup trying to get a drink.

Habits like ordering water but filling up a coke?

Habits like spilling and making a nasty mess. Habits like walking in off the street with their well used cups to steal a refill then walk back out. Habits like filling up a whole cup, taking a taste, then dumping it out oce and all into the drain tray only to fill it with something else. Wasteful, ignorant cultcha.

The McDonald's in our neighborhood has all the drinks behind the counter. I'll go in there with my 4 year old every now and then. There is nothing that you can get yourself. Want a napkin, straw, refill? You have to get someone to help you. If this was CFA, that would be fine. The problem is the counter is usually completely empty with all of the workers hiding in the back since they want everyone to order from the kiosk.

I get why they are making the move, but it is just adding the list of reasons to never go into one of these places.

Surprising amount of capital and store redesign that will likely be needed to implement the change. McDonald’s has a unique dispensing approach that they utilize for the fountain. They do not use the standard bag-in-a-box.

Being able to refill my own drink is an essential component of my fast food and fast casual dining choices. The McDonald’s near me already got rid of self serve, so what’s the point of going there?

They have those on cruise ships as well.

Its funny af to watch someone think they could have all you can drink cokes when they didnt actually buy the drink package.

The ones at Great Wolf Lodge were fun to watch too. Their machine also has a reader that shows them how long they have to fill up and how many ounces they have left. The number of people that thought they could fill up, down the drink, and get a 2nd full cup in a matter of seconds was fun to watch

The taste of Coke products out of a McD fountain are certainly unique.

In theory, it is the freshest tasting fountain soda available.

a consumer oriented establishment such as this is surely to follow the Chick Fil A model and have a nice elderly person walk around and ask if anyone would like a refill
