Once again, that was Denise Marcelle, not Sharon Weston-Broome

I really hope she gets lots of community push back for this as Dabadie was a big reason Baton Rouge was not a smaller Ferguson.

We still have the decision to prosecute or not for the officers happening in the near future. It can still get real and become a Ferguson affair.

Have y'all ever listened to her argue for the interests of Baton Rouge vs lobbyists and New Orleans legislators? I have.

Granted, this was a few years ago, but I found her to be understanding and up to date with the concerns of Baton Rouge and a very capable leader.

I'm excited personally for the future of Baton Rouge.

If anything, this should accelerate the process for a renewed attempt to establish the City of St. George

So does this image give you the butthurt? The only thing that stands out is the obviously confused crackers, of which Broome is probably thinking "What is wrong with THESE dipshits...?"

please tell me what part of my post showed butthurt or said anything other than making fun of her and her SJW ways

OMG... A black woman is mayor.. People freaked out when Holden was elected and whether you agree or not, he was the best mayor BR had in a long time. Maybe Broome ran her campaign in a way that would get her elected.... That doesn't mean that's the type of mayor she will be.

Its not like the black monster people will be coming after whitey or anything.. Calm down.

It isn't "White" flight. it is "take responsibility for their lives and families" flight.

Until people start raising their kids properly, using contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies and valuing hard work, things won't change. It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with self respect and responsibility.

There is a huge difference between being poor and being ghetto - urban, trailer park or otherwise.

I had already left. And quite frankly, there is nothing she can do to bring me back to wanting to live in the city limits of Baton Rouge.

I'm just here to read the comments and watch my property value continue to increase.

Why? What is Mayor Broome going to do that Kip Holden didn't do over the past 12 years?

Actually, no. A lot of BRPD will lateral transfer to another department. My husband did it earlier and another BRPD officer joined him. It's not that far fetched. You can double your salary in other places and way less crime.

You have a mayor now who wants to be soft on crime in one very violent city. Makes perfect sense. BRPD officers are dying to get out of there now.

Like them or not, they work really hard. They work many many murders a year. Even more shootings. She will realize very quickly that she needs them.

This is like Chokwe Lumumba being elected mayor of Jackson MS. Things will get much worse before they get better.

Judge Parker created the white flight to Ascension and Livingston not any mayor.

The biggest disappointment of this last election was the Green Light Plan 2 not passing. As much as everyone bitches about traffic a great opportunity to continue to fix some of it was lost. We can hope Broome will bring this one back and they will get out and actually explain it to people. This is what we need.

Broome and Bodi White were pretty much cut from the same cloth if you ask me and I didn't like either one.

If our road expansion needs are due to 10 plus years of growth, then WTF has happened to the increased tax revenues generated by all of that growth? Why isn't that paying for roads and infrastructure? Why does every improvement that anyone can propose in this parish require a new tax?

Reasonable people are sick of property taxes. If they put up a proposal to fund greenlight with money diverted from the BREC, the library, and CATS, I would have voted for it.

People bitch even more about how much taxes we pay in Louisiana and how much we get in return for them. We are tired of getting taxed every which way here. It is hard to even keep tracking of all the taxes we pay in this state and what the state/city/parish uses the money for.

People say "oh it was a little tax". Yeah, well add it to all the other little taxes we pay here.
