I'm guessing her plan to replace the current chief will take time. You can't waltz in and just say you are fired. We saw that with the D. White vs. Kip deal. Kip couldn't fire the man and had to take it to a alternate source. Which ended up canning White. I hope the current chief plants his feet and gives a sturdy fight if she so chooses to follow up on her promise.

Ankle bracelets, but not for keeping people in, but keeping them out.
Like TD bannings, you can go wherever you want but you can't be within 100 miles of East Baton Rouge Parrish:
1. if your anklet indicates you have broken that boundry, you get an automatic mandatory 10 years
2. if you are caught without your anklet in EBR, you are given 25 year minimum
allowing people to move somewhere else.....helps in the long run....'frick dis shite, Imma bounce to Houston'

Mayor's have a lot of influence over policing and general policies that go on in city offices.

Why in the world would she want to fire Dabadie? He did a great job- as did all of LE and JBE- during the summer's unrest. Is Broome trying to score points with blacks or has the chief done more than I've heard about?

I think she will fire or demote the BRPD police chief who is a union puppet and bring an outsider in. Kip screwed up by firing white who was an outsider. She needs to bring someone in to bust up the police union and either fire incompetent officers or give them the option to be retrained. If they do not improve start the path to dismissal.
In reality she will probably be the normal status quo. Downtown gets all the money along with projects while the rest of the parish falls apart. NBR the crime and line will move South from Florida Blvd toward I-10 and I-12 (Sherwood which has gone down already and Broadmore will be first and then it will move into Tara). You will see more businesses move out of this area and more abandon buildings for rent in these areas which is already happening. Middle class is still going to move out to the suburbs due to better schools which she does not have much control over. Businesses will follow and SE part of the parish will grow while the roads, sewer, and green spaces to control flood water cannot handle it.
NE part of the parish the bridges that need to be fixed will be closed and parish roads that are in bad shape will remain in bad shape.
BR it will be business as usual except the police chief will change and taxes will go up.

here's one write up on who Broome is and what she may become as Mayor from a couple of days prior to the election. Gary Chambers even gets a mention. I will admit some of this sounds a bit over dramatic.

People don’t seem to understand that there is a difference between Kip Holden, the current black Democrat mayor of Baton Rouge who has been a mostly ceremonial figure eager to please the city’s moneyed interests and preserve their status quo, and Sharon Weston Broome.
She isn’t much like Holden. Holden at least paid lip service to the idea of economic development and did things to keep it on the front burner – and at times had a bit of success on that front despite allowing crime, traffic and public education decline during his 12 years in office. That’s not who Broome is. Broome is more your redistributionist urban lefty pol – she has a train of do-nothing hangers-on who expect city jobs, and she’s thrown in with the race hustlers and poverty pimps.
When Gary Chambers is part of the brain trust of a major mayoral candidate, you know you’re going to have a problem.
Broome has said she wants a police chief in Baton Rouge who’s sensitive to the needs of the Black Lives Matter crowd, which means the BRPD is going to become non-functional as a protective force against the hardened criminal element in town. That isn’t a particular problem for white people in Baton Rouge – the white people in town live in nice neighborhoods, sometimes with gates at the main road, they have security and car alarms and guns. White people aren’t all that vulnerable to violent crime, relatively speaking. But the poor black people in the northern part of Baton Rouge who Broome is counting on lots of votes from are exceedingly vulnerable. They’re the ones who get shot. They’re the ones who get robbed when they’re unfortunate enough to have something on hand worth robbing. They’re the ones who get beat up by thugs. And neutering BRPD, which she will do, will only make their lives more hopeless, more adverse. And their stories every day on the six o’clock news will hasten the exit of the middle class to the suburbs.
On and on, until you are Detroit. Or Baltimore. Or Jackson, Mississippi. Or Montgomery, Alabama.
Those white people in the southern part of the parish will create the city of St. George in response to Sharon Weston Broome’s election. You can bet on that. They might not do it if White wins; they’ll at least hold off long enough to see if he can make good on some of his promises.
