I do a lot of volunteer work in north BR. One program I really enjoy helps teach people in that area how to be self sufficient (budgeting, job skills, interviewing skills, etc). The idea is to take a specific zip code and reach out to them and one by one make a difference. It's a great thing they do and they do it without government support. Well Mrs Brooke showed up one time and was outraged by this program. The reason why: the majority of workers at this place are white. She said "where you hide your colored folk at, the kitchen?"
That's your mayor. Mad at people that want to help because of the color of their skin. Keeping racism alive.

Let me go ahead and say first I'm no liberal commie bedwetter or anything. Having said that, I think if you were a fan of Kip (who surprised a LOT of people by being an outstanding mayor) you'll hardly notice. From everyone I've talked to, SWB is a Kip clone. I think it's all gonna be OK.

I used to tutor kids in North Baton Rouge. We bussed the kids to the campus, fed them, met with their teachers on their behalf, had summer programs, dances, field trips, etc. The program I worked for had an over 87% graduation rate. That program operated out of LSU and was explosively successful.
Kip Holden removed funding for the program to send the money to SU. Money was used internally for SU law school.
That was the pattern of behavior that got EBR Schools to where they are.

If you dont see a major problem with her statements in replacing him in this situation then you need to wake up. The majority all black metro council just approved to pay the protesters and the sheriff publicly voiced his displeasure with this payout. What do you think is going to happen the next time an organized protest takes place in the city knowing the BRPD is being handcuffed by a mayor. Kip was in front the camera backing the local PD for their actions in keeping this city safe. I really hope she gets lots of community push back for this as Dabadie was a big reason Baton Rouge was not a smaller Ferguson.
