I don't believe there will be any or only very limited on campus teaching. The University admin is waiting for the Fall tuition checks to clear before announcing the move.

Notre Dame was announced last month they will start Aug 12th and semester will end the week of Thanksgiving. They will eliminate fall break as well.

As much as I adore my beloved institution, this is a good thing. I sell insurance, so I don’t see any reason why I have to have a college degree to do it. In fact my counterpart (the Eastern sales manager) does not have a college degree. Sorry, but I think basically everything outside of STEM and history degrees are almost worthless. You actually learn more relevant information in your first 4 weeks of your job than you did in 4 years of college.

The reason they are going to online classes after Thanksgiving is so they can try to get the football season completed. All on campus football games should be done by Thanksgiving. Just conference championships and bowl games will be left by Thanksgiving.

Going back after Thanksgiving is pointless anyways. As a student, you usually go back for 2 or 3 more class days and then finals. They should just make it so the semester ends the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and we won't return until sometime in January.

With the technology we have now everything outside of a lab class can get just as good of instruction in an online learning environment. Many classes at LSU are too big to facilitate any discussion. You also have the aspect students are either too ignorant or lack confidence to participate in a healthy class discussion.
Universities should be drastically consolidated and cost reduced through the embracing of online learning.

Lol, you are talking about 3 weeks which is right. How do you make up 3 weeks? If it was that easy it would be done already...you are right most schools have 1-2 weeks of classes after thanksgiving (big deal) then some down time then a week or so for finals. You can’t simply just erase 3 weeks of the calendar.
For those saying online learning is the same, stop. It’s not. Plenty of students need additional instruction either by after class or study hours, group study, labs, etc.
There are plenty of worthless things done by universities, but not everything is worthless.
A huge part of getting a college degree is not just training for a specific job. It’s maturing, it’s learning things beyond your major, etc. Some don’t need it but plenty do.

sounds like they are hellbent on proving it is all about acquiring a piece of paper and not about actually learning anything.
I have a couple of pieces of paper myself but I hardly remember any of it, kind of like a Westminster dog show beagle probably would not recognize a rabbit.
