Seems like the bar is somewhat low. Maybe reasonable is the better word. What were the previous standards?

You serious????

It 100% happens.

Asians and Whites are held to higher standards in college admissions.

Does anyone know someone they applied, but didn't get in to LSU, if so, I'd love to make fun of them.

My wife went to a Catholic all girls school here in Nola. Every few moths she receives an alumni catalog in the mail, this past years class there was only 2 seniors who chose LSU. Most of the girls Goto UGA, Bama, OM,UVA or some small school in the north east. FWIW, my wife went to College of Charleston then transferred to Bama. LSU was never an option.

I'd venture a guess that most of them are rich and out of state fees don't matter. I think if everyone had an unlimited amount of money to go to college, given financial woes, a lot wouldn't choose LSU or any public Louisiana college/university.

I knew a few that didn't get into LSU from my graduating class. Some went to Ole Miss or Southeastern because of this

Maybe highschools need to revert back to more rigorous coursework and grading where achieving a 3.0 actually meant something.

That would cut graduation rates in half.

You may say "good", but it will never be allowed to happen.

I would say most are not rich, just borrowing whatever it takes to go to the school of their choice. Given the availability of student loans, the money is almost unlimited, and the main reason for the stratospheric rate of tuition increases.

Why is a taxpayer funded college creating a double standard for athletes and non athletes acceptable?

Let me know when 95,000 people pay hundreds of dollars to watch a biology class.

LSU will require applicants to submit at least one letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher, advisor, or administrator starting in the summer of 2019. College admissions counselors at high schools statewide received a June 22 email from LSU admissions director Daniel Barrow, who stated LSU is enacting the letter policy as LSU transitions to a "fully holistic evaluation process." (Diversity?)

The LOR simply makes the process more subjective. It allows LSU to defend itself if certain students are denied while having objectively better applications than others who were accepted.

Freshmen requirements for admission into LSU include a 3.0 grade-point average (!!!) and a composite score of 22 on the ACT

A 3.0 from a public school in EBR is much different than a 3.0 from a private school in EBR.

That’s not the point of a university.

I’m pretty sure those were the same requirements for me a decade ago besides the letter, which is stupid.
