No I'm off today, just reading Louisiana News, in particular the education cuts, crime, and dismal cost of living. It made me reflect on my life in Uptown, working at Charity, etc.
Are you wearing cajun Reeboks posting from a gas station restaurant?

Seriously, who doesn't love cajun Reeboks? I'm pretty sure the answer to that question is Muslims, Communists and Texans.

People gripe about the education here, but that's a bs excuse. Education begins and ends in the home.
Education in Louisiana is simply not valued by a large percentage of the population because it really isn't that important. For the large swath of generational welfare crowd, the difference between straight As in high school and a dropout is essentially zilch. They can still get a pretty comfortable life not working at all.
Among the middle class, the high numbers of blue collar jobs mean that C high school student has just as much opportunity to make a lot of money as that A student who goes on to get multiple college degrees.
The amount of additional effort required to attain better educational outcomes doesn't pay off here (relatively speaking) compared to other places. The terrible student still lives comfortable, the average student makes six-figures in the plant or in the oil patch, and the college graduate makes $40k/year as a teacher or working for the government. Or sweats it out as a lawyer or engineer, (engineers making less than the tradesmen they design things for).

I have traveled to 80% of the US and to 15 countries and every single time I still honestly believe the nicest people, best food, and one of the most diverse cultures is here.
Bedoins are the only rival we have for hospitality, France is still a far 2nd for food, and historical context is barely surpassed by Israel and Rome.

I dont think anyone is disputing the food and culture. Rather many imply there are little to no cons of Louisiana living and those that acknowledge such cons say they are overatted.

Is this the thread where the best and brightest of Louisiana shits all over the state and wants to run away in a cowardly manner instead of contributing to the betterment of the state?
I'm shocked.

Also, what do you consider running away in a cowardly manner? Getting into a college that surpasses anything Louisiana has to offer? Getting a job that pays more than anything Louisiana could match? Finding that there's more to see in the world?
Because if so, you can call me Lion because I'm cowardly as frick.

Prime example of how flawed that Louisiana education is Scruffy. Making people think LA one of the most historic places on the planet...besides Israel and Rome of course

I have traveled to almost 30 countries and plenty of states and still call Louisiana home by choice. I am not small-minded or ignorant of other places. I just love the people, the culture, the food, the atmosphere, and most importantly, my family, friends, and my roots are here which I value above all. I love this state, even with all its flaws, and I think the number of people who do eventually make their way back here are testaments to why it's such a great area to live in. It might not be for everyone, but it sure is for me!

LA isn't even the most "historical" state in the US.
The US itself pales in comparison to nearly every other country on the planet.
His statement had to have been a joke.
