Overnight in Philly. Kept trying to get us out the gate and when they gave up, all rooms in the surrounding area were booked. All food places closed as well. They did give us the snack cart though

Had two pretty shitty situations:

Once in NYC, there was a blizzard, was there for hours and they kept pushing the flight time back. Finally cancelled flight, took two hours to get to front of the line. They told us they could get us home in 4 days, possibly. They put us up in a hotel for 1 night, we find a flight out of Baltimore and drove 4 hours to Baltimore, and took a flight out of there the next day.

2nd:

Got to FLL at 11 at night for a connection. Flight canceled. They cancelled like 20 flights, the line to get to the front was FOUR hours. We said frick this, found a flight out of Miami, took an Uber there, and spent the night in the airport. 8 hours later got on a flight. Didn't sleep at all.

Are you on the flight to JFK out of MSY? Cause I see that it's delayed 8 hours

Good ole Delta. We don't cancel flights, we just delay them 13 hours.

I'm assuming you're in the US? At least you got that going for you.

I missed my flight in Nice back to the US and had to sit in airport hoping they had room for me on next flight which was 11 hours later

It looks like they finally had an aircraft swap in NYC. The flight left two minutes early originally but must have had maintenance issues. JFK to MSY. Above flight means that the return MSY-JFK is delayed 8 hours as well MSY to JFK

Flying home to New Orleans from Seattle, we got to the airport to find out at check-in that here were "system issues" with United and that we could expect to be delayed. Everyone on the flight wound up spending the whole afternoon (lunchtime to sunset) and early evening in Seattle, then they flew us to Denver where we arrived at about 11 PM, and set us up in a hotel room overnight (with breakfast vouchers), then picked us all up and flew us home the next morning.

Probably an overall delay of about 20 hours from our original scheduled arrival time (and date). Had to take an extra day off from work.

And, of course, they lost MY suitcase on that last leg; didn't get it back for another couple of days. trip

Last year all of DFW was shut down due to storms and I couldn't get a hotel room fast enough before everything was booked. Seriously called like 20 places before I gave up. Went to the Admirals Club lounge and took a shower and slept in that bitch. Wasn't able to get to my destination until the next evening. Easily 12 hours spent in DFW.

My rule is that if the delay is over two hours I'm getting a charter fired up. I'm too important to be kept waiting.

Was stuck in Heathrow (London) for 36 hrs during their worst snowstorm in recent history.

The airline (Singapore Airlines) ran out of vouchers for hotels so everyone laid up next to the cafes and they gave us poors a paper thin blanket Everyone was jockeying for the cell phone charging stations too.

When I was in the military I was booked from Monterey, CA to San Francisco and then from San Francisco to Atlanta.

When I arrived in San Francisco I had about 1 hour to swap planes...

When I got to the board to find my gate number I couldn't find my flight number. When I asked at the customer service counter, they informed me that my flight was the next day (the Army had booked me a 25 hour layover). I never even noticed the dates. I ended up spending some time in the USO.

Worst experience I have had so far

Loaded in a Beijing to Detroit Delta flight
Door shuts Auxilary power unit goes out

Sit on 80 degree plane for 8 hrs and China won’t let us deplane.

Crew low on hours, have to get approval to fly.

Finally back off the gate and sit in the tarmac for another hour waiting in line.

Fly to Seattle to swap crews, have to clear customs, 4 hrs later we leave for Detroit.

What should have been a 12.5 hr plane ride turned into a 24 hr nightmare

I flew to New York one time to listen to this jazz band play and get the saxophone players autograph to fulfill a promise to my dead dad.

Apparently mid-flight my homeland begun a civil war and I wasn’t allowed to go back or leave the airport. So I just hung out and made friends with the maintenance crew and janitors. Ended up falling for a stewardess who turns out was just a whore.

So about 8 months. The free S’barro was a nice perk but not really worth it.

I fly about 30 weeks a year for work. I’ve been lucky and only laid overnight once although I did get into Buffalo one time at 2 am.
