I saw a graphic from our local meteorologist that indicated 85mph wind gusts in Shreveport and 70 mph gust in Monore. That would be pretty amazing if they got that kind of wind that far inland.

FYI: Mark Sudduth and one of his crew are going to Shreveport to ride it out. The other two guys in his crew are staying near the coast. Mark will put up cameras in Shreveport to document the inland impacts.
I don't know his plans for getting in the eye, or if he plans to try to launch the balloon/camera into the eye. He hasn't said either way.

Levi speaking about historical record. It is interesting...
And to the guy stationed in Germany that posted here asking if his wife and kids in Fort Polk should leave for Arkansas. I would tell her to go just to be safe.

Question about the staged utility trucks - do they already know where they're going? Do they have contracts or do they just drive to the highest bidder once it passes?

Thinking about taking my mud boat out

I’m in St George. Can someone tell me when I should take my dog out for his last pee before the storm?

Will do. They are here now, and I'm lighting up the grill
Like you, this is the first time we don't have kids in the house for a storm......so the snacks last longer
I'm thinking this is going to be Hurricane Lili-ish for the southside of Laffy, or just a bit worse.

Obviously not recent history, but Hilda in the 60s had an F-4 that killed 20 something people. My grandpa was in a tug boat tied up in the Intracoastal and saw the whole thing. He said it was the most terrifying thing he’s ever seen.
This is a big misread on my part, but I first read it, "My grandpa died....". When I read the last sentence I was confused for a second.

If you are riding it out in harms way its a good idea to take pics before and during the storm. If water is coming through the ceiling, walls etc. take pics and video. The insurance companies will be sending their catastrophe teams that have no connection to you, your agent, etc. They are documenting and moving on to the next claim.
We were in St. Bernard for Katrina. I never saw an adjuster for flood insurance. We filed a claim, and about 3 weeks after we got a call asking where they should mail the checks, that immediately they were sending out a check for the full policy amount. I asked if I needed to meet with an adjuster, and they said, no need, we could tell based on your address that you were wiped out, and we need to send the adjusters to places where it's not so obvious.
I did meet with an adjuster for our roof damage claim, and it was a very easy process. The house ended up being torn down (it was in the Murphy buyout area).
Meanwhile, friends and family that lived in Metairie, that had significantly less damage than us, had to fight for every penny from the insurance companies.
