did you ever get scared down there? Idk how people don’t get totally claustrophobic on a submarine.

I’m speechless. I can’t believe I was originally planning on riding this out. Where ol’ boy (TWC) is standing on the casino beach is 3.8 miles from my house (...crow flies). So any footage they’ll show later from the hotel ...... I mean shite.

The latest surge forecast is much better for the central LA coast. Any idea why?

probably one of the shitty chinese places. I am certain a nuclear bomb being dropped on lafayette wouldnt stop a chinaman from trying to make a dollar selling expired food.

Ivan had a verified 91ft tall by 600 yard long rogue wave with 130ft+ estimated in the eye wall.

Still amazes me.

That is mindblowing anywhere, but in the GOM?

In other news, bet you would have all of big lake to yourself this evening

Have there been any tornados stronger than an EF-1 in recent memory with hurricanes.

Obviously not recent history, but Hilda in the 60s had an F-4 that killed 20 something people. My grandpa was in a tug boat tied up in the Intracoastal and saw the whole thing. He said it was the most terrifying thing he’s ever seen.

2 hours old isn’t “new” in this thread. Not being a dick. Just letting you know things move fast here.

I was awestruck when my submarine was 500' below the surface and getting tossed around by a Cat 4 hurricane near the Bahamas. We wound up going to below 800' before things smoothed out

I had the same experience. LA class with the depth gauge in the back of crews mess going nuts. Felt like we were on the surface (for those without the experience - submerged is as smooth as can be, but a round hull doesn't do that great in open seas).

I will say one thing, I would not want to be a meteorologist at a NWS during this. Hunting rotation on radar to find a potential spin up would drive me crazy. Gotta have some experience to do it, I'm sure, not like watching a line for a hook or just scanning velocities.

The computer can flag it automatically. It's easy to tell the computer to look for velocities moving opposit directions right next to each other with a given minimum difference between the two velocities.
