Why/how does this happen? We have two in there at one time but now we go 3 hours without one?

Cameron has taken their rebuilding very serious. Every building has been built pretty high up. Still would be horrible to stuck in Cameron. shite driving in Cameron during a bad thunderstorm is scary enough.

Mayor Turner of Houston holding a 30 minute press conference warning folks in Houston to not let their guards down. And asking for the roads in Houston to be cleared by 8PM.

Landfall is at minimum going to be 95+ miles East of Houston. This dude is out of touch with reality.

But if masks are blown off of faces by a stuff breeze, people could literally die.

The exception is when you close on a home I believe. My flood insurance was effective immediately when I purchased and I live on a 100 year flood plain.

You are correct, I believe this is an exclusion to the 30 day effective date wait. Mortgagees are not going to leave their interests uncovered like that when closing a loan.

People want to be included in things so badly. It's human nature. People really overestimate the left side of these storms. Besides being a little breezy it should be a nice night in Houston.

Me and the family drove down and spent a night on Holly Beach a few months ago. Such a shame whats about to happen down there. Serious prayers for the recovery afterwards.

I was on the clean up crew in Cameron after Rita. It was as scrubbed down to the dirt as you can get, ive never seen anything like it

the storm drains and sewer were so compacted with sand from the surge we couldn’t jet them clear. There were about 10 buildings total left standing

Take anything with a grain of salt if it’s from anyone besides Duke, rdc, and Slack,

Not sure about the other two, but I've been tracking storms as an amateur for nearly 30 years. I've told the story in these threads before, but I was our storm tracker in elementary school for a weekly TV show we did for the school. I was supposed to plot the storms using the NHC advisories. After a week or two, I started making my own predictions and spaghetti plots on storms that were way out in the Atlantic. Like any amateur storm aficionado, I naturally wanted every storm to hit New Iberia. They ended up pulling my TV spot after 3 weeks because kids were terrified of my predictions.

How many homes will “catch fire” in 2-3 days? Didn’t a group of police/ fireman’s homes catch fire after Sandy? Always seems to be a couple.

It's not going to be a fun night in Lake Charles but there isn't going to be 6 feet of water across the entire city like the weather channel keeps showing.

yeah i was talking about Cameron

i am pretty confident that where i live will not flood. there wasn't even accumulated water on the road in front of the house for Ike and the house is at least a foot off the ground on piers

if my mom's house takes on water, lake charles is entirely under water
