coming up in southern Lafourche and Terrebonne. I think Venice is east enough where it shouldn't get a whole lot higher than that

Between that 145 MPH, and 18' surge pushing up the lakes and rivers RIP my house.

That 18’ surge is max, if it makes you feel any better. They can’t put they’re expecting 15 and end up with 18, so they put the max. They called for widespread 15 feet and locally up to 20 for Rita, for reference.

Anyone who is evacuating to BR, let me know if you need anything and I will do my best to help out.

I know we talk a lot of shite and joke around but I truly feel for anyone in this path.

I'm nervous too.

Should be good, but I have PTSD from riding out Andrew.

We have 130 mph from a dropsonde, wouldn't be surprised to see an upgrade in the next hour or two.

Is there a levee system around the chemical plants and refineries on Sabine Lake in Port Arthur? I was wondering about the same thing for LC. There are a bunch of plants that run down the shipping channel. I fish there all the time and have never really noticed any type of levee.

There is also the Strategic Petroleum Reserve location down by Hackberry. Of course the oil underground is safe, but the facility and buildings will probably get flooded pretty badly.

I'll check in now and again from Abbeville, well technically Perry. No trees within house distance so all should be ok as far as that goes.

Prayers for everyone.

An update from our KPLC weatherman, Ben Terry. Zack Fradella will also be joining the rest of them today as well.

99% of the time, these guys are ULTRA conservative when talking about storms. They’re nothing close to that and even mentioned a slight possibility of becoming a Cat5 before making landfall.

No. No levee systems.

I’m actually worried about my place of employment as well. We’re pretty close to the ship channel.
