Make no mistake. Any NATO military response to Russian tac nuke or chem weapons would result in full scale escalation of the conflict.

Vlad is just that crazy.

Nah. Vlad wants to be the hero of the Russian People. He doesn't want to be the tard who launched a tac nuke that resulted in his country reverting to the 1800s.

Here is what most dont understand but Vlad does, there is enough firepower in eastern Europe right now to destroy his conventional forces in a matter of hours, not days. He knows that.

That includes his garbage arse Navy in the Med and Black Sea.

I am not sure if NATO or US would respond with tactical eye for an eye. Personally if I'm calling the shots I respond by dropping huge EMPs over every major city. Then followup with a few MOABs on military targets and let Russia destroy itself from the inside out.

That is assuming we have ICBMs that will have only an EMP as the payload... Take the grids offline and screws up their missile defense some.

1. A high altitude EMP of the type capable of damaging an entire city’s power grid is delivered by detonating a nuclear warhead in the atmosphere. Launching strategic missiles at Russia is a terrible idea and is almost guaranteed to trigger full scale nuclear war/MAD.

2. MOAB’s are dropped from C-130’s. It’s one thing getting a C-130 on top of a bunch of caves in Afghanistan, but good luck against a foe with actual air defense. That’s not really their intended use.

The artillery is gonna be the game changer especially if Russia really thinks they will take the Donbas region

The Ukrainian forces will be getting 10 digit cords passed from their own drones or western intel and strike Russian positions a 100 miles away

If it gets stupid your folks will have it sorted out in about a day. F35s, F22s, F117s, B1s, B2s and the Russians cant see any of it.

They could enforce a no fly zone just flying sorties in Germany and Poland with F-22s and their payload

It was only a hypothetical and only if NATO nation was directly attacked. I figure we have something in the arsenal that has already been developed or something could be retrofitted. The idea was purely hypothetical and the premise on getting other tactical weaponry with low civilian jmpact into enemy territory is predicated on taking offline any SAMs from the EMP. I've watched that ocean 11 movie too many times I guess.

I agree our artillery and the target acquisition systems are going to give Russians some problems.

Well the Russian SAM operators couldn’t hit a slow moving TB2 drone which ended up setting a major fuel supply point on fire with a few lightweight missiles. So Russia might have an air defense but it’s not a working air defense.

Russia has a doctrine called Escalate to Deescalate. Roughly, use a nuclear weapon on the theory NATO would hesitate to go full scale nuclear over an isolated event and it would lead to negotiations. Very risky, but there it is. At any rate, Russia has pledged not to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. That's worth not much more than the paper it's printed on, but at least it indicates they would have to think long and hard before deciding to do it.

One example of how this could go sideways without a retaliation in kind: Russia uses a tactical nuke to dig the final resisters out of the Mariupol steel plant and Nato's response is to start sinking Russian missile subs. Russia would be faced with a use em or lose em scenario.

No benefits from using nukes on a huge steel complex to flush out starving opposition. They’re going to use chems first. They don’t have the funds to rebuild an area they flatten and acquire.

Look at yesterday’s events, Ukraine hits oil depot, they go and hit targets deep in Ukraine. Tit for tat so to speak. But Russia has been leaving a large area basically unmolested for whatever reason.

Yeah I hate saying this but I don’t know why the Soviets just aren’t volleying bombs in the direction of every warehouse, fuel depot, and major train track…unless they just don’t have the capability.

This is the only Land Route from the Ukrainian Border near Romania to the Coastal City of Odesa without going through Moldova, this can’t be a coincidence in my opinion considering the Situation unfolding today in Moldova/Transnistria.
