The point was after. Ukraine is the worlds leading producer of Neon which is necessary for semiconductor manufacturing. Good idea would be to start here and get back to making our own chips instead of relying on Taiwan with a rising china.
We should be taking in English speaking Ukrainian refugees and placing them in jobs in cooperation with private companies to help our own labor shortage.

Current Oryx totals for Russian vehicles and specifically Russian tanks rendered combat ineffective.

I believe the reason why the Russians sent the Chechen Mujihadeen to Ukraine is that the Russians have been using them as a shock group to reduce their own losses, albeit not successfully since the lack of an NCO level has been sending Russians back home in bodybags by the droves. This terrorist organization of Caucasus are skilled at urban warfare, which may come into play later on as the Eastern offensive rages on.

Recently, an interview was released of Putin, and there seemed to be some very interesting elements. His posture seems off, and he is gripping the table with his right hand for the entire meeting

My Czech friends are listening to alarm bells going off today. I was reminded that I was an important part of NATO accession for them this morning. I feel sick after hearing the Russian military directives. Odessa being reduced to Mariupol levels would be like destroying a di Vinci. As I said 8 posts ago Russia has miscalculated ethnic Russians and their level of loyalty to the motherland. Odessa Crimea and Transnistria won’t join the war willingly. I would suggest knowing what the west knows they will expect Russia to frick this offensive to hell like in Kyiv. Will Odessa be spared? I’m not sure any more. frick putain is this real life? My guy in Russia says tv is saying Russia is being genocided? If only Russia hadn’t been attacked in this proxy war they wouldn’t be losing their young healthy men and that the population would be regenerated?!? WTF? Orwell is laughing hysterically in his grave.

I really like and appreciate your posts more than just about anything in this thread, but could you include some context here? How is Russia going to pull of an eastern Ukraine offensive as well as a southern one? Everything I’m seeing says the Russians barely have the requisite forces for the eastern attacks. I agree about Odessa though, spectacular place.

Thus far, Putin has been trying to pull this off as a "special military operation", using existing (peacetime) enlistment and conscription in order to minimize the political blowback of Russian casualties at home, the effect of which he will remember well from Afghanistan in the 80's (20k dead over the course of the decade contributed significantly to the fall of the Soviet Union and they may be approaching that now). One possibility is that if he doesn't feel like he's able to present something as a victory to justify this operation and burnish his credentials as an effective autocrat that Russia will move toward total war mobilization, start calling this a war justified by NATO aggression and begin using more aggressive conscription for manpower needs. Their media are already starting to set up for this framing as LSUCanFAN's post alludes to.

They later said they were hacked

And they were hacked. Those numbers are completely accurate only the MIAs are actually presumed KIA. My assured number is 22000 K 5900 M/C 48000 W. America/Britain is calming everyone down and assurances are being given. But Russian Crimea has a decision to make as Russia wants conscripts now. Apparently the Transnistria Russian thing was a wish that those dumb enough to do it would enter the war to create another front, this completely neglects the idea that those people have no weaponry and would be on a total human wave North Korea mission.

Max I appreciate you take the posts for what they are, as such you can probably imagine my friends are well positioned to as accurately as they are able, verify what they are saying to me. Context is hard without compromising folks. I’m afraid inferential is the best I can do. I figure by your post you’ll understand.

quote:
A Russian general has said Moscow wants to seize all of southern and eastern Ukraine as he revealed plans of a new phase of the invasion. Rustam Minnekayev, deputy commander of Russia's central military district, said the plans were to seize the entire eastern Donbas region. Forces would then link up with the Crimea peninsula and capture Ukraine's entire south as far as a breakaway Russian-occupied region of Moldova.
quote:
Ukraine has said the comments prove Russia was lying when it said it had no "territorial ambitions" on launching the invasion. "They stopped hiding it," Ukraine's defence ministry said on Twitter. It added the plans meant Russia had "acknowledged that the goal of the war is not victory over the mythical Nazis, but simply the occupation of eastern and southern Ukraine. Imperialism as it is".

Unfortunately the 300+ Polish T72s have been in storage and have not been modernized. They be used as a source of spare parts to help repair some of the 200+ modernized T72s captured from Russia.
