Any peace deal must take into account the territorial realities on the ground.....or so I've heard for over a year

Don't understand why the UK needs our permission to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadows. It's not our weapon. The UK should make their own decision.
It's been reported that the US has threatened Kyiv with pulling support if they do not abide by the US long range strike policy. If true, then the UK can make the offer but Kyiv will not accept until the US changes their policy. The article has a somewhat different take - it mentions that 3 countries have to be in agreement for long range strikes.

I’m so sick of Biden and shite administration screwing the Ukrainians every chance they get. They slow play every weapon and then when Ukraine finally gets moving again they handcuff them so they can’t have TOO much success because they just want them to fight, not win the war.

quote:Good point. Depending on the November outcome (just 80 days away) negotiations could restart in earnest. If Ukraine can hold the Russian territory until then, it could be used to barter return of eastern Ukrainian lands which would otherwise be much harder to retake.

It’s pretty stupid. Once it became obvious Russia wasnt just gonna “aw schucks” after they realized this was actually going to be difficult, you either pull all support or “all in” with support to actually defeat Russia.
Instead we chose this “middle ground” of pussying around that accomplished very little.
We have thousands of Bradleys sitting around collecting rust. You tell Russia through back channels “make peace by xx date or we give Ukraine 2000 Bradley’s and lift all restrictions on weapon usage”.
Somehow, peace would find a way.

The U.S. and Europe are either working together to contain a militarily aggressive Russia or we are not. The only way to contain Russia’s military aggression is to oppose it. There is no viable middle ground. This is one of the biggest policy failures of the present administration.

Couldn't agree more. This administration has frickedup everything it's touched.

Think the Russian army has charging stations.?
Posted on 8/17/24 at 10:23 am to StormyMcMan
I was just coming to post that. It's so wonderfully on brand for both Kadryov and for Tesla. You notice that there's no video of him firing the gun, because the recoil would probably rip apart the Cybertruck's frame.

Destroy every power station in the country. Send electric truck. Makes sense.

A single charge is longer lasting than the average lifespan of the vaunted T34 of old.

Hmm. Real, or decoy? Normally, if you wanted to prove that something was destroyed, you would show the video of the wreckage.

Never thought about that. Would be so Russian.

Does he realize Tesla could remotely disable that thing if they wanted to?

Whether it’s real or not it’s irrelevant. These vehicles are easily replaceable. The rockets it carries are more valuable than the actual launcher. The M270 isn’t made anymore but the actual launcher vehicle for the M142 HIMARS is the FMTV which is used for all types of things in our military and we have thousands of them. The plant in Camden, AR just takes a FMTV truck and puts the launching pod on it. Easily replaced. 3 in almost 3 years is really a huge win for Ukraine no matter how you spin it. They have around 60 launchers still so they aren’t lacking.
