Sorry that that happened to you.

Have you looked at other companies for the same job?

What profession are you in?

DFW. I’ve been applying everywhere in the metroplex though.

My brother went thru the same ordeal there about four years ago. Was laid off two different jobs because of downsizing in a four year period. The last job he had there, the boss walked in on Tues. morning and told him to clean out his desk upon leaving that afternoon. He started doing job searches on the net. He ended up moving and working for a company in Pullman, WA.

Nice place to live. It gets pretty damned cold but most of the year is pretty awesome.

ETA: there sincerely needs to be a Network Board on this site. It's long overdue and a shite ton better than Soccer.

Lol, you made this post to one of the most prolific soccer board posters.

A networking board would be awesome though.

It takes a special kind of motherfricking piece of shite to lay off someone right before Christmas.

Go intern/entry level it at 1310 The Ticket. That will be major networking for you to open up some doors.

I fired my cousin a week before Christmas 4 years ago. He lied to me about the status of a job we had going on which cost me a lot of money and nearly cost me my biggest client at the time.

Also fired a guy on Easter Sunday about 12 year ago that basically did the same thing.

There are two sides to every story. Maybe OP was shite at his job.

Been at the company five years. Started out entry level out of college and worked into mid Management. Was called in today, and laid off due to "elimination of job position". My position was being absorbed / distributed to other employees and was made aware that i was being let go in lieu of reassignment. My salary is being put toward a Managment position they are hiring next week. notice or warning.

Merry Christmas.

This sucks balls on any day, right before Christmas just adds insult to injury. This is why you should always make sure to have some aspect of your job set up that makes you practically indispensable.

Anyone under 30 that was laid off needs to just get any job after about a month of not working, it looks bad for you to simply be not working at all for months. Even if it's bartending or retail or whatever. Employers want to see someone that's going to hustle, and pay their own bills.

It's one thing if you are older, have kids, and have savings plus are looking for a mid to upper management role. But imo as someone that hires people, if you are younger not working for months is a red flag.

That's why I said "lay off" rather than fire.

He might have said laid off but again he might have been terminated for incompetence. No one knows.

Getting let go right before Christmas is a bad deal, sorry that happened. Here's hoping you can take a little time over the holidays to get over it and then find a new and even better opportunity for yourself in the coming year.
